c1927, the tonneau shaped cream coloured dial, 18mm diameter, with starburst engraving, black Arabic numerals, blued moon hands and chemin de fer chapter ring, unnumbered 15 jewel mechanical crown wind movement, case, 22mm diameter, verso hinged with Glasgow import marks for Sterling silver and sponsor mark of Sylvain Dreyfuss, numbered 51262, case edges decorated with herringbone style decoration, to a Milanese style bracelet with infinitely adjustable buckle, stamped 'Sterling', gross weight 24.6gFootnote: Fabrique de Montres Rotary was founded in 1885 at La Chaux-de-Fonds, Switzerland by Moise Dreyfuss. By the 1920s family members, Georges and Sylvain Dreyfuss, began importing Rotary watches into Britain, which was to become the company's most lucrative market. Rotary remained in the ownership of the Dreyfuss family until 2014. Although this example is unsigned it does bear import hallmarks and with its Swiss movement and sponsor marks, it is likely to be one of Dreyfuss' early imported Rotary watches.
