W. P. & W Skelton Warrington 8 bore single barrel rotary lever wild fowling shotgun, black powder proof, serial number 24271, with damascus barrel, chequered figured stock, horn end cap, barrel length 100cm, overall length 143cmSection 58(2) Antique /obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence.Condition report: The barrel measures 0.875 at 9 inches in from the breach. We do not have outside wall thicknesses. The is some heavy pitting around the middle of the bore. The barrel is tight on the face and there is no wobble between action and barrel. The forend has a crude repair around the barrel key and this needs attention for the gun to look its best. The gun has a dark patina overall and most of the metalwork has turned a flat brown colour. The stock has a lot of small dents and knocks.
E. M. Reilly 8 bore double barrel side by side rotary underlever hammer gun, serial number 18593, the 30 inch Damascus barrels engraved E. M. Reilly and Co. Oxford Street London and Rue Scribe Paris, fitted with later rear sight, scroll engraved actions and receiver fitted into chequered figured stock, forend cap and escutcheon lacking.Section 58(2) Antique /obsolete calibre, can be owned without a licence. 30 inch barrels.Condition report: The Right barrel measures 0.869 at 9 inches in and the left barrel measures 0.872 at 9 inches in. We do not have outside wall measurements. Bone barrels ring true when tapped. Both barrels have light dents to the tops around the middle of the tubes. These cannot be felt and can only be seen when sighting down the barrels from the muzzle with a strong light casting across them. Both barrels have light pitting ahead of the forcing cone. There are patches of deeper pitting between the middle of the barrels and the muzzle which I do not think would polish out. The barrels have been cut down and a rear sight added. The barrels are tight on the face with only the slightest gap on the right side which does not let light through. There is no wobble between barrels and action with and without the forend removed. There are some dents to the stock behind the hammers and some dents and wear to the chequering on the forend. The forend cap is detached and the original missing, a bone replacement is present. The butt stock looks like something has affected the finish as there are matt patches.
