P. Aillaud, 1842. French Ambassador to the Ottoman Empire and an avid traveler and lover of antiquities, Choiseul-Gouffier first published his impressions of Greece and the Ottoman Empire as Voyage Pittoresque en Grece in 1782. In 1842, the work was posthumously republished as Voyage pittoresque dans l'Empire Ottoman . This second edition quite rare, with only the Atabey copy (selling for £14,000 in 2002) and one other in the auction records.

Kraus, 1780. One of the most handsome of all conchological works. The work was commissioned by Empress Marie-Therese in order to record and codify her natural history collection in Vienna. In 1778 Born published a descriptive catalogue of the collection; the present work, published two years later is on a much larger scale than the first work and included the fine coloured plates. The collection has remained in Vienna and is now in the Natural History Museum.

A PAIR OF WALNUT AND EBONISED FRAMED WALL MIRRORS in the manner of George Bullock, each with rectangular plates within flat fronted burr walnut veneered surrounds with applied roundels to each corner, beneath a scrolling cornice with leaf-carved decoration, 33" high (2). Ginger jars OK. Bowl with three cracks. Larger plate cracked. Pair of plates no damage found.
Five Chinese porcelain plates decorated in the Imari palette with flowering shrubs and bamboo, the borders with auspicious objects, 23cm diameter, All with minor glaze faults. One with loss to rim under the glaze. One with numerous chips/frits to foot rim and others with fewer. Three with small chips to rim. Decoration worn.
