A 19th century ceramic tea service hand-gilded and decorated in enamels with various floral sprays comprising:a teapot and cover;a two-handled sugar bowl and cover;a cream jug;a slop bowl;2 cake plates (26 cm wide) and10 cups and saucers.Condition Report: Two cake plates - gilding and enamelling is good and of fine quality. Only minor surface scratching, some pinhead-sized brown blemishes to undersides, both in good order. The slop bowl - similarly good gilding and enamelling but a 6cm hairline running from the inside of the circular foot visible from the underside. Two-handled sucrier - badly hair lined in a circular pattern to the inside, also showing to the outside. Gilding and decoration is good. Handles appear OK and there is a chip to the top.Saucers - kiln grit to the underside, minor scratching visible at close quarters, generally gilding and enamelling. One saucer noted with a hairline, another with minor spotting, 6th saucer no problems, 7th same. All saucers dirty and dusty. One saucer with gilt rubbing.Cream jug - good order overall, small chip to top edge.Teapot - 4cm hairline emanating from the inside of the lip into the main body. Handle has the thumbpiece broken away and there is a chip to the underside of the teapot lip. The spout is damaged. Underside looks OKTen cups - 7 appear good, one has a hairline crack and two have chips to rim.
The Holford Collection - four volumes:'The Holford Collection - Dorchester House - in two volumes with 200 illustrations' (Oxford University Press 1927). Both volumes signed and numbered 377 of 400 by the editor, Robert Benson);'The Holford Collection - Westonbirt - Illustrated with 101 plates' (Oxford University Press 1924) signed and numbered 138 of 300 by the editor, Robert Benson;'The Holford Collection - Westonbirt - A catalogue of 12 illuminated manuscripts and 107 pictures' (The Medici Society 1924).The Holford Collection was, with the Hertford Collection, one of the two greatest British art collections of the 19th century. It was amassed by Robert Holford (1808-1892) and divided between his seat, Westonbirt in Gloucestershire, and his London home, Dorchester House in Park Lane. His son and heir, Sir George Holford (1860-1926), in association with the Burlington Fine Arts Club catalogued the Westonbirt Collection in 1924. Sir George died in 1926 and the Dorchester House catalogue published by his executors in the following year. The Holford Collection was sold in three record-breaking sales by Christies in 1927 and 1928. Also included with the lot is a handwritten record of the sales' results (the July 15th 1927 sale complete with buyers' names).

Bunzel, Wien I, Rothenthurmhof", in Mahagonikasten, 6 Einstellschieber, 7-stelliges Umdrehungs- und 12-stelliges Resultatregister im Schlitten, Umdrehungs- und Resultatwerk mit Rändelschrauben zum Einstellen von Zahlen, Löschung mit 360?-Drehknopf, Schreibfeld mit Schiefertafel, Serien-Nr. 1169, sehr guter und funktionierender Zustand. - Literatur: Martin, S. 210. - Bei dieser Maschine handelt es sich um ein "Burkhardt Arithmometer A", die erste serienmäßig hergestellte deutsche Rechenmaschine von Arthur Burkhardt & Cie in Glashütte. Hugo Bunzel importierte komplette Rechenmaschinen von Burkhardt, gravierte seinen Namen in die Deckplatte und verkaufte diese als sein Produkt. Später kaufte Bunzel nur noch die Mechanik, Gehäuse und Deckplatten wurden in Österreich hergestellt. - Eine große Rarität, insbesondere in Verbindung mit den Geschäftsbeziehungen zwischen Burkhardt und Bunzel.
