A pair of large Victorian carved wood and gilt gesso rectangular wall mirrors with bands of tied acanthus. 146 cm overall height x 63 cm overall width.Private estateGenerally good order. It looks like the original un-bevelled mercury glass plates.One plate has some subtle bloom to around 85% of the plate and both show some sparkle to the silvering. I have tried to show the bloom in images but it is probably too subtle to show up, that is not to say it is invisible as it is apparent but subtle.Both mirrors have some minor areas of beading and gesso missing mainly from the bottom edges, see the images for clarification.

The portraits depict Jeanne Antoinette Poisson, Madame de Pompadour (French, 1721-1764) and Louise Benedicte de Bourbon, Duchess du Maine (French, 1676-1753.) Each plate with a Sevres mark along the underside indicating a date of 1779.
