A matched pair of brass barrel and action flintlock blunderbuss pistols by Waters & Co., with underside sprung bayonets marked 'Tho-Gill', locks marked 'No.131 Patent' and 'No.166 Patent', broken half cocked safety to one, side mounted ramrods, sliding steel trigger guard bayonet releases, Birmingham silver grotesque butt-plates with maker marks 'CF', one stamped for 1781, the other 'H' probably for 1780, 13in. (33cm.) long, 7¼in. (18.4cm.) brl.* Condition: * Condition: Brass areas over-cleaned with some loss of definition to wording, bright steel bayonet, Cock, Frizzen and trigger guard showing some ageing blemishes, bayonet releases both working with springs locking same into forward position (one spring weak), both stocks showing some bruising and no: 131 with small split to RHS above trigger guard, the differing numbers on each could relate to patents or a none consecutive numbered pair? One ram rod all wood the second with bone/ivory tip.
A pair of flintlock blunderbuss pistols, by Jackson of Nottingham, brass barrels with octagonal breach in to one piece chequered walnut handle with gilt lion mask butt plates, steel trigger guards, 6in. (15.3cm.).* Condition: Brass areas over-cleaned to both with some loss of surface patina, no splits to stocks but some flattening of points near action, both locks with strong springs and good action, one sliding safety stiff, both bright steel trigger guards, hammer and frizzen with aged patina and very minor surface rust to some areas.
