A vintage brass desk lamp, with green glass shade, bearing label "Greenalite". Height 48 cm, width 27 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The light is in working order. The shade is in good order and free from any chips, cracks or visible damage. On the interior of the lamp there is a faint printed mark “Made in Germany”. The brass bars supporting the shade are slightly misshapen and both are dark dull colour. At the top of the column there is a 1 cm rubbed mark to the edge which shows a spelter colour. One would say that this is a patinated spelter table lamp rather than a brass table lamp. It has lived in look with a few nicks around the base but nothing in our opinion that is overly detrimental.
A French Art Nouveau oil lamp, with vaseline glass reservoir upon an onyx base in turn above an Art Nouveau sinuous metal foot. Overall height 25 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This lamp has been modified for electricity. There is no chimney or shade. The Vaseline glass reservoir appears to be in good order throughout with no obvious chips, cracks or flaws. The onyx base has knocks on three corners, two small and one slightly larger. The Art Nouveau spelter base is a uniform colour throughout and shows no signs of any damage.
An Art Deco patinated spelter table lamp, early 20th century, modelled as a young female standing upright on tiptoes her back arched and holding aloft a dished plate supporting the moulded flaming torch shade. Overall height 56 cm (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The dish and lamp shade mount are all one complete unit. The patinated spelter is showing around the fringe of her hair, nose and chin. It is also showing around both hips and the rear knee and calf of her right leg. The patination of her shins and base are very similar and although a good match slightly different from the remainder of her body. One maybe be tempted to re-catalogue it as Art Deco Style?
A Victorian pink satin glass oil lamp, with brass mounts, converted to electricity. Overall height 31.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: This lamp has been converted to electricity. There is no shade or chimney. There is a small dent to the body where the shade would sit. The brass reservoir has a foliate decorated top which sits on the glass body. The glass body is hollow with no signs of any drilling. The electrical cable fits through the middle of the base and goes through the body of the glass to the top fitting. The glass body shows no signs of any visible chips, cracks or restorations. All metalwork has been highly polished. There are no drill holes in the glass body. The wire goes through a manufactured hole at the bottom of the vase then through a hole in the brass reservoir and through to a fitting.
A Victorian pink opalescent and brass oil lamp, circa 1880, handpainted with a heron amongst reeds and lotus, all upon a black ceramic and gilt base. Overall height 64.5 cm including chimney. CONDITION REPORT: The part frosted and etched glass shade maybe contemporary to the lamp but not original to it. The shade is free from any obvious chips, cracks or damage. The chimney is in good order. The lighting mechanism does not have a wick fitted but all the knobs turn. The decoration on the glass body appears to be good throughout with no obvious faults. The gilt decoration at the base of the image is 40% rubbed and a further gilt line beneath the first knop is also rubbed. The glazed pottery base is free from any chips or cracks. It is impressed with the numbers 645. There is some minor gilt rubbing to the thinner gilt line on the base. The long handles on either side are slightly misshaped but still intact. Overall a decorative piece.
