Pair of Art Deco style table lamps, domed shades, height 56cm.Condition report:Both lamp bases are good, althought no currently working and would need electrically testing prior to use. The plastic shades are ok, no splits, just some surface wear. One of the caps that hold the shade in place has been indented slightly so the button stud stands a little proud and subsequently, the shade sits a little loosely on the stand.
Art Nouveau bronzed table lamp, in the form of a sinuous female and dolphin, with metal shade hung with beads and inset with moulded glass jewels, total height 51cm. Provenance: By descent from Douglas Shepherd (1922-1989), a designer and architect working on public houses for the brewery firm Ind Coope. He was heavily influenced by and was a serious collector of Arts and Crafts and Art Nouveau, including leading designers and artists such as Charles Ashlee and Jessie M King. He assembled a large collection from the 1950s to 1970s. His book collection was subsequently sold through Sotherby’s and in 2013 his magnificent silver collection by Archibald Knox and others was sold through these rooms.
Victorian brass and vaseline glass oil lamp, with moulded green opalescent glass reservoir, the crimped shade with green tint and frosted, etched decoration, stepped brass base, 61cm including flue. Condition report:The shade has a few small nibble around the base rim, otherwise no cracks or chips to the top rim. It appears to have polishing residue over the reservoir and body, and it dusty in all the corners. The who lamp is leaning to the side.
Four Victorian oil lamps, including one with moulded opaque glass reservoir, raised on brass fluted column, stepped base, one with moulded glass beehive type reservoir raised on a cast metal base, each aspect with peacocks in a tree, another with spherical ceramic reservoir, printed with flowers, and the fourth as found, with painted yellow opaque reservoir, now detached from the cast brass base.Qty: 4Condition report:The shade on the taller lamp has a short hairline crack to the top rim of the shade, all have some small nibbles around the base rims of the shades, otherwise good. The reservoir on one has snapped off from the base.
