AN EBONISED AND PARCEL GILT OCCASIONAL TABLECIRCA 1815 AND LATERFormerly a pole screen, on scrolled supports and tripartite base ending in gilt paw feet46.5cm high, 40.5cm wide, 29cm deepProvenance: Supplied by Oliver Messel Condition Report: Overall scratches, knocks and abrasions consistent with age and use.There are losses, observations and restorations including: the table top is papier mache; the gilding has some rubbing to the edges; there is a variable craquelure to the front and back; as per the catalogue description this table has been converted from a pole screen with a later rectangle of wood supporting and fixing the papier mache to the ebonised base; the top is bowed so that it is not flat, the underside of the top has cracks and splits revealing the papier mache card, these are not visible to the top; the ebonised and parcel gilt table base has evidence of worm, with some cracks and wear to the paintwork.Please see the additional photographs as a visual reference of condition.
