WWI MEMORIAL - British Great War Memorial Plaque in gold painted plaster and oak, housing an original bronze government issue memorial table medal at top and a memory card with notification letter at back regarding the Killing in Action of Sapper Albert George Davies, Royal Engineers, March 18, 1918, aged 31 years, the plaster plaque surround featuring a sailor and soldier with arms at rest, crossed flags below, figure of victory above, biplanes in flight, 28 1/4" x 17 3/4" overall, the bronze medal is 4 1/2" in diam, old repairs to the plaster plaque. Albert was the Husband of Caroline Matilda Davies. He enlisted at Llanelli into the Royal Engineers, and was sent to France, where he joined the 176th Tunneling Company, Royal Engineers. Albert was killed while the Company was stationed in the Vimy sector, on 15 March 1918. He is buried at St. Nicolas British Cemetery, France.
