An Edwardian inlaid mahogany square envelope card table, with frieze drawer and tapered legs of square section united by a galleried centre shelf. Width 58 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The table is structurally very sound. The flaps are not warped. There is some shrinkage between the flaps making the original gaps larger than originally intended. The inlay to the top is in generally good order with only one small loss. The green baize is original with no holes but it is very dirty and stained with liquid marks etc. It is also worn in places but not perforated. The baize has a black and gilt tooled leather edge which is in reasonably good order with only minor losses around the quadrants. The baize is slightly separated from the gilt edge on two corners. The outer mahogany veneered top frame surrounding the baize has stress fractures at the corners. The damage is only significant at one corner where there is a 7 cm split and some small veneer losses. All hinges are original and there is no significant movement. The table is structurally very sound with no repairs to the legs, shelf or supports. The castors are original and in good order. There are some minor scuffs and marks to the polish as one would expect.
A Regency mahogany turnover top card table, with carved beaded edge, with baize interior surface, upon four splayed supports upon quadripartite base in turn above four downswept reeded legs terminating in brass capped castors. 92 cm wide, 76 cm high (see illustration). CONDITION REPORT: The top is a good uniform polished colour throughout with nice figuring. There is a small scratch to the rear right hand corner which could be polished out. There is a very fine 5 cm long line to the rear left corner but nothing too detrimental. There is a thumbnail size patch to the rear centre of the top which is slightly lighter than the remainder. The scroll supports terminate in small central buttons, there should actually be a larger rosette around these which are missing on all sides. One of the scrolls has a split through the base. Three of the legs have been broken at the ends and repaired. These each have a metal band aiding the restoration and support. Regardless of the faults mentioned this is still a rather attractive piece of furniture and is structurally sound.
