λAn Edwardian matched silver and silver-gilt travelling dressing table set, various dates and makers, retailed by Edwards and Sons, Regent Street, London, plain mounts including three silver-mounted bottles, three jars, a spirit flask, a box, a brush, two manicure items and an American pen knife, plus various leather items a pinwheel, a purse a wallet and a notebook, in a fitted travelling case, plus another Edwardian silver-mounted dressing table set, by Mappin and Webb, London 1908, comprising four silver-mounted jars and bottle, and green leather items: two boxes, a wallet, plus manicure item, and a tortoiseshell comb and card case. (2)Provenance: Sophia Florence Martin née Bosworth, wife of Charles William Martin (1850-96) of Quorn Place, Leicestershire. In 1886, Martin founded the Quorn Ranch Company in Alberta, Canada, one of the most famous British North American ranches, importing British horses and Angus cattle to the area. A 19th century Victorian mahogany card / games table. The table having a serpentine fold over table with deep frieze below. All raised on straight leg support legs. Measures approx. 72cm x 91cm x 49cm. All lots in this auction are part of a private collection of antique furniture and smaller effects. The collection having been amassed over a 30-40 year period by an ex-furniture restore who's eye for a good piece shows through in this auction.
