Platos, Press and Culture Office, Polish Armed Forces1939-45 Star; Africa Star; Italy Star; Defence Medal 1939-45; War Merit Cross, without swords; Monte Cassino Cross' numbered '48258'; Poland, Republic, Order of Polonia Restituta, gilt and enamel, Soviet produced 1944 type, mounted as worn, in that order, in a wooden display case with a number of badges, sold together with an original I.D. card, the last slightly chipped, overall very fine (7)Jan Platos is recorded as an Unattached 2nd Lieutenant in Poland in 1939, escaping to Palestine after the Fall of Poland he appears on an I.D. card issued to the then Polish Brigade as a Lieutenant. Serving with then in Iraq and through Africa he is confirmed on the role of the Monte Cassino Cross, earning the badge number 48258. This relates to a unit named the Press and Culture Office, Non-Divisional Units. He appears to have remained in the British Military after the war, earning a Cross of Merit from the Government in Exile however his Polonia Restituta is a Communist issued type suggesting a Liaison role between the two countries; sold together with an original I.D. card named to the recipient, three table medals, four unit badges, one on silver and one enamelled as well as a letter providing research on the recipient and copied research.…

England Wales Scotland and Ireland described and abridged with ye historic relation of things worthy memory from a farr larger voulume, done by John Speed, London: George Humble, 1627, decorative title, table of 'Catalogue of all the Shires', 63 uncoloured engraved maps by Pieter Van den Keere including 2 folding (Yorkshire and The British Isles), both folding maps laid on later thin card, index bound at rear, some toning, staining and spotting throughout, bookplate of W. & P. J. Kupfer to the front pastedown, contemporary calf, upper board detached, worn, oblong 8voQTY: (1)NOTE:Chubb XII. The index calls for 64 maps, the last entry being '64. Midia'. Chubb states that he has failed to find any edition with that plate present, and the atlas is considered complete without it. It is most likely that because this map (unlike the other Irish maps) was never reprinted with an English title, it was omitted from all subsequent atlases after the text changed from Latin to English.
