Brett’s, 109, Drury Lane, a note promising to ‘supply the bearer with pure Patent Brandy, Patent Holland's and every other genuine article in the Wine and Spirit Trade at fair and reasonable prices or forfeit £1000’, 1 December 1832, signature of Henry Brett, previously mounted and remains of blue paper still attached to reverse, low right corner top missing, overall fine and scarce Outing 4044a £150-£200 --- Henry Brett was born in 1787 in Holborn. He established his business in 1929 and can be seen advertising in various newspapers by 1832. In 1851 he is described in the Census as a Brandy Merchant and Hotel Keeper at 138-140 Holborn Hill. The business was highly successful and advertisements for Henry Brett & Co. can be found from as late as 1883.
