An Edwardian oak tantalus, with three hobnail cut glass decanters, each with decanter label dated 1964, length 33.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: It is stamped to the side of the handle just above the lock with a crown above Betjemann's Patent 40238 London. The silver plate has worn from all the metalwork. The opposing side of the handle is stamped with a crown above the tantalus. The woodwork appears to be in good condition throughout. Two of the decanters are matching whilst one is very close, differing in pattern and slightly smaller. Of the matching decanters, one stopper has numerous chips to its base. The decanters themselves have only very minor chips to the base but appear to be in good order otherwise. The non-matching decanter has chips around the rim and also around the rim of the stopper. The locking mechanism appears to work. The pair of matching decanters have matching silver labels for port and whisky, the non-matching decanter has a label for brandy.
