Good quality early 20th century silver plated two bottle tantalus, with surmounting handle, the top bar released by pressing down on the lock plate, housing twin cut glass decanters and stoppers, each with plated spirit label for brandy and whiskey, on plinth base, marked D&A, EPNS, 32cm high Condition report: Good condition commensurate with age, no key but the mechanism works well, plating is worn in areas, the decanters are in good condition commensurate with age, minor scuffs but no major chips, cracks or damage, the glass is cloudy/watermarked to the interior of the decanters. The tantalus is not marked Betjeman.

Condition Report Scratches and marks to the underside of the base. Enamel lettering in good order, no sign of any chips or repairs.

Provenance: Part of the collection (lots 167-231) formed by Baron Michiels van Verduynen (1885-1952), the Dutch ambassador to the Court of St James’(1939-1942). After the collection returned to the family’s residence Huys Clingendael. Thence by descent to the Barons Van Tuyll van Serooskerken.
