A GEORGE V SILVER CIGARETTE CASE, GEORGE RANDLE, BIRMINGHAM 1926, engraved with conjoined strapwork, scrolls and a monogram, 8.5cm by 7cm; together with A SET OF FOUR SILVER BOTTLE LABELS, BIRMINGHAM 1983 AND 1984; for Whisky, Gin, Brandy and Vodka; and A SCOTTISH SILVER SPOON, FRANCIS HOWDEN, EDINBURGH 1797, decorated with thistles; and A PAIR OF EPNS GRAPE SCISSORS. AN EARLY 20TH CENTURY MARINE IVORY TIPPLER'S WALKING CANE, the handle carved as clasped hands with the finial unscrewing to reveal a brandy flask with stopper inscribed COGNAC, 92cm long over all, together with a hunting crop with natural antler handle, embossed silver collar hallmarked London 1891 and engraved with initials, and braided leather body. Cookery & other recipes.- Bragge family (of Sadborow Hall, near Thorncombe, Dorset) [Collection of recipes], manuscript, 109pp., and 4pp. index at front, index and first 18pp. first 11ff. slightly water-stained not affecting legibility, slightly browned, three large foxing spots on last 2ff., original marbled wrappers, slight water-stain on upper cover, rubbed, faded and creased, lettered direct "Cookery Book" on upper cover, folio, [c. 1750].⁂ Recipes include: "A Carraway Cake - My Mama"; "To make a Cake Lady Plymouth's Way"; "To make Primrose Wine"; "Turkey a la Dobbe"; "Rasberry Brandy"; "The Nagoue... Take 4 spoonfuls of french Claret and thicken it with flour..."; "A Lark Pye - Withers"; "Dr Meads Bitters"; "Orange Marmalet"; "To make Pastasha Cream"; "To thicken the hair"; "Bitters Sr Edward Hulse [Sir Edward Hulse, first baronet (1682-1759), physician]"; "For a Dropsy Mrs Smith"; "To brew small Beer - Mrs Bere"; "To make the Best Raisin Wine - Mrs Smith"; "To make a fanchurch Pudding"; "To make Shrub" etc.Provenance: Matthew Bragge, a local clothier bought Sadborow in 1576. The present house was built between 1773 and 1775 by John Johnson, for John Bragge and cost £2,589 2s 4½ d. The estate was sold in 1923 when the last member of the family, Captain John Bragge died in 1922.

Finch (Lady Charlotte) An Inventory of the Household Furniture etc., belonging to the Right Hon.ble Lady Charlotte Finch at her House at Charlwood in the Parish if Rickmersworth (sic) in the County of Hertford taken June the 15th 1767 and the other subsequent days, manuscript inventory covering 38 rooms plus courtyard garden and back yard, signed by Sam Spencer, Auctioneer and W. Gates, Cabinetmaker, 12 pages, 405mm x 162mm, manuscript invoice (in duplicate) and expense account of Spencer and Gates pinned to front cover (as well as travel costs it includes breakfast, dinners, suppers, brandy and 2d for the poor woman at the gate!), marbled paper wraps, folded [Lady Charlotte Finch (nee Fermor), 1725-1813, was governess to the children of King George III and Queen Charlotte from 1762 to 1793. Her husband died in 1766, followed by her daughter in 1767]
