American Civil War.- c. 17 Autograph Letters signed to relatives about experiences in the Civil War, numerous pp., Camp near Brandy Station, Ohio and other places, 1862-64, "I am sorry to inform you of the present situation of our Dear Brother who fell in the Battle of Dallas he was wounded in the thigh & it mortified & was taken off about 3 inches above his knee we got a letter... he bid us all a last farewell...", folds, browned; and a small quantity of other letters and documents, some English, most American, including an ALs from Horatio Hamilton on a plantation in 1863 to his wife with a 3 cent postage stamp and ink stamp indicating insufficient paid, "Due Ten" (letter deals with his wife's unhappiness staying with her father-in-law and his difficulties with money), v.s., v.d. (sm. qty).
