Manoscritto settecentesco di ricette. Seconda metà del SettecentoManoscritto cartaceo in folio (mm 330x220). Carte [115], con paginazione manoscritta in numeri arabi 3-247, mancanti 11-14 e salto di numerazione da 188 a 201. Arrossature e bruniture. Legatura coeva in cartonato, carta decorata ai piatti, abrasioni e lacune ai piatti e al dorso, fascicoli allentati, macchie ai piatti. Al piatto posteriore note manoscritte di difficile lettura. Interessante manoscritto in lingua inglese databile alla metà del Settecento, un inedito compendio di ricette e istruzioni per preparazioni a uso dietetico e medicinale, inclusa, come si legge al verso della settima carta (numerata come pagina 22 dalla anonima mano che ne ha vergato il testo), -A Collection of receipts phisicall and chirurgicall most approved-. Tra queste, la ricetta ad esempio della Sanatifera, un cordiale a base di chiodi di garofano, cannella, zenzero e altre spezie lasciate macerare a lungo nel brandy, di cui era noto il salutare, se non prodigioso effetto. Le ricette si susseguono secondo il genere di disturbo da trattare (raffreddore, insonnia, forme di anemia), o gli organi del corpo interessati (occhi, apparato digerente, ecc.). Molte sono, infine, le pagine fitte di rimedi, consigli e segreti destinati alle donne, dalle preparazioni consigliate "to Take away haire", ai prodotti medicinali utili a prevenire l'aborto, o alleviare la nausea in gravidanza.
