Purdey & Sons A magnificent Tallet engraved 20-bore sidelock ejector over and under gun no. 29597 28-inch barrels with 2 3/4-inch chambers about improved cylinder and 1/4 choke borings narrow solid file cut rib the frame locks and top-lever engraved with fine bouquet and scrollwork the right lock with a scene of pheasants breaking covert the left lock with a covey of partridges against open countryside the action base with a brace of woodcock against a woodland scene the trigger plate signed B. Tallett 97 retaining all of its original cyanide hardened bright finish the makers name signed in gold within scrolling banners gold lined cocking indicators rolled edge trigger guard numbered in gold beetle back safety catch 14 3/4-inch highly figured stock nitro proof in its makers lightweight leather case with makers accessories 6lb. 8oz. The gun was delivered in 1999 and remains virtualy. unused. It is an exceptional example of modern gunmaking.. It was engraved by Bradley Tallet who is one of a new generation of talented young engravers to emerge in the last few years.
A collection of six Victorian silver mounted and cut glass scent bottles, comprising; a globular spiral fluted bottle and stopper, Birmingham 1928. 14cm high (5.5in), a smaller similar atomiser, London 1879. by George Brace, 11cm high (4.25in), two hobnail cut bottles with foliate embossed covers, London 1904. and Birmingham 1908. 10cm high (4in), a reeded cylindrical example, London 1889. and a spiral fluted scent bottle, 1888. both by Sampson Mordan and 6cm high (2.25in)
A Nantgarw dessert plate from the Brace service circa 1820 London decorated, probably in the Bradley workshop, painted in the centre with a bouquet of flowers, beneath a border moulded with C-scrolls and reserved with panels enclosing birds, fruit and flowers, gilt dentil rim impressed NANT-GARW CW 21.5cm., 8.5;in. very minor wear The service is so named after a square dish with similar decoration was presented to the Rt. Hon. William Brace, P.C, and illustrated by W.D. John, Nantgarw Porcelain, pl. 31B..
A CASED 14-BORE DOUBLE-BARRELLED PERCUSSION SPORTING GUN SIGNED HALE, mid-19th century, with 29 3/4in. rebrowned twist sighted barrels, breeches engraved with a partridge, scroll engraved tang and signed locks, the latter each decorated with a differing scene involving a dog flushing a snipe and a brace of partridges, figured walnut half-stock with chequered grip and fore-end, engraved iron mounts including trigger-plate with pineapple finial, and brass-mounted ramrod (some discolouration to iron parts), Birmingham proof marks, in lined and fitted brass-cornered mahogany case with some accessories including leather-covered Dixon powder-flask with nickel 'Quickloading Fireproof' charger, the lid with later Cogswell & Harrison trade label.
Lowell (Robert). Lord Weary's Castle, reprint, N.Y., Harcourt Brace, 1946, orig. cloth in rubbed and chipped d.j. with closed tear at head of upper joint, 8. Signed and inscribed by the author to fellow poet, David Posner on front free endpaper: "For David Posner with strong memories of his hospitality and conversation about things deep under the skin, October 8, 1959". This written above an earlier presentation inscription in another hand. (1)

JAMES'S STREET. LONDON. S.W.', Woodward patent 'The Automatic' actions with arcaded fences, protruding tumbler pivots with gold-inlaid cocking-indicators, profusely engraved with best fine scroll engraving, retaining virtually full renewed colour-hardening and finish, 14 3/4in. highly-figured stocks with Prince of Wales semi-pistolgrips and including buttplates, weight 6lbs. 12oz., in a magnificent James Woodward brass-cornered and mounted oak and leather triple guncase with removeable barrel tray and removeable accessory tray, flip-up brass lid brace, with three nickel-plated striker pots, a set of Woodward horn-handled turnscrews, leather pouch cleaning kit, Woodward nickel-plated oil bottle, Hawksley brass and horn chamber brush, six nickel-plated Woodward snapcaps and various oil and cleaning implements, the lid of the case initialled 'S & T' under the coronet of an Earl. The maker's have kindly confirmed that gun nos. 5321 / 2 were completed in 1899 and gun no. 5491 was completed in 1900
