Conrad Wise Chapman (1842-1910), oil painting on oak panel, "Skating in The Bois de Boulogne". 21.5 cm x 40 cm, signed and dated 1875. Inscribed verso "Cercle des Patineurs Bois de Boulogne Par C.W Chapman". CONDITION REPORT: The painting has come in for sale from a good local private source. The vendor is downsizing. The picture could be hung in its present condition without the need for any repair or restoration work. The surface of the painting appears to be very clean. We cannot see any paint lifting or flaking. When viewed under a x5 loupe it is possible to see crazing but this is to be expected. The board onto which the picture is painted seems to be flat with no warping. There is an oak brace across the back of the panel which may indicate a previous crack in the board. There is no evidence of any board crack visible from the front.

Lot 204

A 1997 Yamaha XJ600N Cafe Racer Manx registration number EMN 963 Frame number 4BR0245748 Engine number 4BR0244860Bike was bought in 2017 and project took over 600 hours to complete. It is taxed and insured for road (Isle of Man) with 13,000 miles on clock. It includes removable exhaust baffles, a second Honda CBR600 seat unit to allow for passengers and original parts. I wanted to start a project with a “Hole through tank” to view vertical carb velocity intakes, not many bikes with this configuration. I fancied a BMW K1600 but they were too expensive so settled on a cheap XJ600. I also wanted a 4 into 4 exhaust system with “Megas” and a Café Racer look. Bike was completely stripped down and frame centre stand tube was removed and swinging arm brace was reworked to allow for the 4 exhausts to pass through. The sub frame lower rails were replaced by 22mm Dia straight rails to allow clearance on exhausts. Finally, some lugs were removed and some added and all the welds were cleaned up before rub down and spraying. One of the biggest jobs along with exhausts was the hole in fuel tank, this took considerable time in planning where and how this could be done. Finally a 100mm hole was cut through tank on centre line of vertical carb intakes. A section of 100mm mild steel truck exhaust was offered up and welded into place then a section was cut out for carb velocity stacks, leak tested and prepared for spraying by my good friend Lester. 4 custom 50mm spun alloy Velocity stacks were fitted to carbs and rejetted. I could not decide on what seat I wanted so I made up two, the first was a Kawasaki KR250 seat bought from Airtech in USA that I cut down middle and added 50mm to its width along with blending into petrol tank. The second seat was of a Honda CBR600 again blending into tank I bought a pair of Gun Nuts from U.S.A., made and pressed alloy inserts into these with M10 threads to replace chain tension nuts. This does away with having to use spanners when tightening chain as they have their own nylon locks inside them. Exhaust system took forever to work out and was made up using straight, 45 degree and 90-degree angles in 32 and 35mm Stainless Steel and 4 Megaphones all from Ebay. All the alloy brackets and mounts were made in house. Forks were fitted with progressive springs, “Blue Spot” Thunderace calliper, Triple clamps cleaned up and clip on handle bars fitted. A new Olhins rear suspension unit was also fitted. The 18” rear wheel was replaced by a FZ600 17” wheel which was modified to fit along with Brembo caliper and small 210mm disc. A smaller Master cylinder was fitted to bespoke Rear Sets. Rear hugger was made from Thunderace front mudguard. The engine was cleaned up and sprayed with heat resistant paint and inspection hole was cut into Gearbox cover along with 8 holes spark eroded into gearbox sprocket. The “Ram Air” chute was made from 100mm sq alloy drain pipe sourced from local school and the 2-piece airbox was made from fibreglass in a bespoke mould. The twin 100mm Headlamps were hung from the “Ram Air” chute by four round alloy bar outriggers, two of which were drilled out to enable wiring to pass through. I had to relocate the wiring and battery from under original seat to where redundant air box was under tank as there was not enough room owing to the 4 exhausts. New alloy trays were fitted on top of engine for ION battery, solenoid and horn and under seat for resister, fuse box and relays. Frame, forks, clocks and ram air were painted in Ford magnetic grey and bodywork painted in Ford race red & glacier white.Motorcycle location: Douglas, Isle of ManFor a competitive motorcycle collection from the Isle of Man to the UK try Geoff Evans (geoffevansiom@gmail.com)Below are estimates (to be confirmed by Geoff):Miles from his depot in Haydock               From his IOM depot       Collected IOMHaydock Depot                                                   £100                       £130Up to 100 miles                                                   £100                       £220101 – 150 miles                                                   £220                       £250151 -  280 miles                                                   £240                       £270281 -  350 miles                                                   £270                       £300351 -  400 miles                                                   £290                       £320All prices are subject to VAT and Transmann Ltd conditions of carriage.Sidecar prices might differThere is also an additional congestion charge for deliveries into London. All lots in this sale are sold as is and bidders must satisfy themselves as to the provenance, condition, age, completeness and originality prior to bidding. The 'SA-30 Collection' - 30 exceptional vehicles chosen to celebrate 30 years of the Silverstone Classic and all excitingly offered at No ReserveAn exceptional UK/right-hand drive SLS with just 10,804 miles and full Mercedes-Benz service historyFinished in Mystic White with 10-spoke AMG alloys, red AMG callipers and carbon mirrorsStunning cockpit in Classic Red leather with a carbon centre-console, AMG Performance steering wheel and 'Airscarf' neck-level heatingNormally-aspirated 6.2-litre AMG V8 with 563bhp matched to a 7-speed, double-clutch AMG Speedshift gearbox, giving a 0-62mph time of 3.8 seconds and a top speed of 197mphRemarkably torsionally stiff with a bodyshell that weighs a mere 2kg more than that of the Coupe with an identical drivetrain and lightweight carbon driveshaftsA supremely refined and capable open-top supercar with the added benefit of being engulfed in the rousing soundtrack of one of the best V8 engines ever produced by AMGThe Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster is the open-top version of one of the most sought-after supercars of the last ten years. It's low, sleek and sufficiently dramatic to stop pedestrians in their tracks, but can it possibly compete with the SLS Coupe in the way in which it drives? With no exaggeration, reviewers of the Roadster were quick to say that it's an even more convincing proposition to drive than the Coupe. The level of grip is remarkable and it stops with great conviction, but where the soft-top really presses its case is in the more subtle areas of its handling repertoire, many of which are a nudge ahead of its fixed-roof sibling. The engineering changes Mercedes made to counter the loss of rigidity caused by the absence of a fixed roof provide the SLS Roadster with an even more fluid feel to its handling. Pushed hard, it feels better balanced and, with its overzealous traction control turned off, it's nothing short of sublime. The SLS Roadster possesses better body control and greater levels of feedback than the Coupé, and if there is any lack of rigidity it is never obvious. AMG claims that minimal strengthening to the chassis was required to compensate for the lack of a roof, as the car was designed as a Roadster from the start. Tweaks include thicker aluminium for the sills, a reinforcing cross-member under the dash and another brace positioned behind the seats. The end result is a level of torsional stiffness that's almost identical to that of the SLS Coupe. It's not lacking in performance, either. Boasting the same 6.2-litre V8 as the Coupe, the Roadster produces 563bhp and 479lb.ft of torque generating an official 0-62mph time of 3.8 seconds, while top speed is put at a bouffant-rearranging, 197mph. And without a roof to filter out its soundtrack, there are tiny nuances in the exhaust note evident in the Roadster that you just don't notice with the Coupe, whether it be entertaining pops and crackles on a trailing throttle or the NASCAR-grade growl on a wide-open throttle. But perhaps the Roadster's most persuasive sales attribute is its striking appearance, which is nothing short of spectacular. The retro-inspired exterior, credited to British-born Mercedes designer Mark Featherstone, lends itself well to the open-top treatment, giving the roadster a satisfyingly low-slung look that sets it apart from its fixed-roof twin. AMG has also introduced optional electronically adjustable dampers on the Roadster, with three settings, Comfort, Sport and Sport +.The car presented here is a 2011 Mercedes-Benz SLS AMG Roadster finished in Designo Mystic White with 10-spoke AMG alloys, red AMG calipers and carbon mirrors. The Classic Red leather interior features a carbon centre-console, AMG Performance steering wheel and 'Airscarf' neck-level heating. First registered on 20-12-2011, just in time for Christmas, it joined our vendor's collection in 2017 but has only been lightly used recently. It enjoyed a 'B' Service at Mercedes on 15/09/2017 at 10,198 miles and its current mileage (supported by prior MOTs and service records) is 10,804, only 600 since the last service. The car was freshly MOT'd on 22/06/20. It's accompanied by its full Mercedes book pack, V5c, older MOTs and invoices and the appropriate registration number, KS10 SLS, will remain with the car.The SLS Roadster was destined to be a modern classic from the moment it arrived and this superbly presented and maintained example would fit nicely into any collection of important motor cars.
