A Brace of 18th Century Continental Flintlock Holster Pistols, the 18.5cm and 19.5cm barrels octagonal at the breech, each with unsigned lock plate engraved with foliage and standards, walnut full stock with raised carving around the steel barrel tang, trigger guard and ramrod pipes, with shaped side plate, spurred oval butt cap and wood ramrod, 33cm and 35cm
A quantity of advertising fans for hotels and liquor, mainly 1920s-30s, including a printed example by Robert Polack for Gordon Hotels; a Foldaway cockade example in original box stating 'keep cool and be gay'; another for Moët & Chandon champagne; pink plastic 1960's example for Churchills Club, Bond St. London; together with a Honiton lace example; and others (qty) The notorious Churchills Club in London's Bond Street opened in the 1960s and was run by Bruce Brace and Harry Meadows in association with south London gangster Billy Howard. The Club featured a burlesque type show with singers and dancers. Due to the club's links with organized crime, it was frequented by gangsters of the period, allegedly including the Kray brothers. It closed in 1980. CONDITION REPORT: Good condition overall. The Polack example has two leaf's which are snapped at the bottom. Foldaway fan also has come detached in part from handle.
A rare George I/II brass pedestal or monstrance verge timepiece movement and dial William Webster, London, circa 1725 The four pillar single fusee movement with plates measuring 5.25 by 2.75 inches and verge escapement for regulation by short bob pendulum, the mechanism enclosed within a rectangular gilt cast brass cover with glazed apertures to sides and back, the 4.125 inch wide brass break-arch dial with false bob aperture to the matted centre within applied Roman numeral chapter ring with fleur-de-lys half hour markers and Arabic five minutes to outer minute track, the lower margin with concave sided section applied with fan-shaped signature plate engraved W:m Webster, Exchange Alley, London and fitted with V -shaped brace to rear to allow the timepiece to be supported via a threaded screw at the base, (lacking spandrels, arch mount, hands, pendulum, backcock and most of glass to rear cover), 20cm (8ins) high excluding screw. William Webster senior is recorded in Watchmakers & Clockmakers of the World as apprenticed to Thomas Tompion and gaining his Freedom from The Clockmakers' Company in 1710, he initially worked as journeyman to Tompion later setting up business in Exchange Alley; he died in 1734. William Webster junior was apprenticed to his father in 1727 gaining his Freedom in 1734, he was appointed Master of the Clockmakers' Company in 1755. He was a fine maker who very much maintained his father's standards in his work. The current lot is a particularly rare model which would have originally been fitted to some form of free-standing pedestal stand which may have taken the form of a column or even a figure. In effect it is an English version of a monstrance timepiece which were a popular product of the 16th and 17th century German Renaissance workshops many examples of which are illustrated in Bassermann-Jordan, Ernst von THE BOOK OF OLD CLOCKS AND WATCHES pages 146-51 (Figs. 118-22).

A FINE NANTGARW PORCELAIN TUREEN, COVER & STAND FROM THE BRACE SERVICE, circa 1818-20, the tureen moulded in relief with C-scrolls and wreaths, the twin loop handles curving downwards and the cover with pineapple knop. Knop, borders and handles picked out in gold and the body with four painted cartouches of fruit, perched exotic bird, tulips and flowers, the cover with two panels - fruit and flowers, and the stand of lobed circular form with six outer painted cartouches of flowers, fruit and bird and having a fine large spray of colourful wild-flowers to the interior, stand 18.5cms diam, tureen height incl. cover 13cms approx

A late 18th Century oak and mahogany crossbanded thirty hour longcase clock, Barker of WiganHaving a 11" silvered bezel painted with Roman and Arabic numerals enclosing a silvered subsidiary second dial and a date aperture, the dial embraced by applied scrolling leafy openwork spandrels and with a thirty hour movement striking on a saucer bell, the case with a flat top above a blind fretwork frieze and a pair of tapering turned cylindrical columns flanking the glazed hood door, above a shaped and crossbanded door, flanked by quarter ring turned columns over a conforming crossbanded lower panel, raised on ogee bracket feet, 213cm high with one weight and pendulum.
