A Victorian silver-gilt mounted travelling toilet set, by George Brace, London 1866, retailed by Howell, James and Co., Regent Street, with plain matted mounts, plain and faceted glass bodies, comprising: three scent bottles, four toilet jars and three toilet boxes, plus two pairs of scissors, and ten mother-of-pearl handled items including a pen knife, button hook and manicure pieces, and three other items, in a brass bound burr walnut case with pull-out concertina front, and with two inner pull-out drawers, the interior of the lid with a mirror and stationery wallet, with a leather storm jacket, length of case 30.8cm, approx. weighable 10oz.
A purple England v Scotland international cap awarded to Arsenal's Joe Hulme for the famous 'Wembley Wizards' match at Wembley 31st March 1928, inscribed 1927-28; ex Harold Mayes collection and comes with a signed note of provenance from the acclaimed football writer (2) The Wembley Wizards is a nickname for the Scotland team that bewildered the English at Wembley in 1928 inflicting a devastating 5-1 defeat. Alex Jackson scored a hat-trick and Alex James netted a brace. Before the match the Scottish press had been highly critical of the team selection highlighting the lack of height in the forward line and the lack of quality in general. Afterwards, of course, the Scottish papers were full of gushing praise.

Joshua Brace, Lydney, a moonphase longcase clock: the eight-day duration movement striking the hours on a bell, the twelve-inch brass break-arch dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, fleur-de-lys half-hour markings and outer Arabic five-minute numerals, the matted dial centre with subsidiary seconds dial, engraved decorative surround to the date aperture, and engraved to a silvered name plate with the maker's name Joshua Brace, Lydney, the corners with cast-brass urn spandrels, the arch having a moonphase disc with date and time markings, with the silvered arched surround engraved High Water at Bristol Key, the mahogany case with typical Bristol cresting to the hood, wavy-edge moulding to the hood door, shaped inlaid stringing to the base and trunk door, canted corners, fluted wood pillars to the hood with cast-brass Corinthian capitals and surmounted by a brass eagle-and-ball finial, standing on bracket feet, height 225cm (inc. finial) * Biography Joshua Brace is first recorded as working in Chepstow from 1752 until 1763 having originally been from Martley in Worcestershire where he had been apprenticed to Richard Munkland, a gunsmith and clockmaker. He then moved along the River Severn to Lydney in Gloucestershire prior to 1780.
A manuscript Chronicle of local and national events wiritten in a neat hand on three parchment scrolls by Rev John Cotton (1686-1757), sometime vicar of Meole Brace, Hanwood and St. Alkmund's, Shrewsbury, written between circa 1710 and 1750. Scroll 1: 208cm, 1638-1722; Scroll 2: 71cm, 1722-1725; Scroll 3, 142cm, 1738-1750. Sample Entries: 1716. The new organ in St. Chad's open'd with great solemnity and variety of Musick. July 26th 1723. Robert Bolan and William his son who suffered for a barbarous murder commited on the bodies of William Mattheas and Walter Whitcomb. The Father is since hanged in chains upon a Gibbet in the London Road about four miles from Shrewsbury.
A good Nantgarw plate c.1817-20, of Brace Service type, painted in London in the Bradley workshop with a central spray of flowers, the rim moulded with flowers and C scrolls reserving six panels painted with a bird, floral sprigs and an insect alighted on cherries, impressed NANTGARW CW mark, 25cm.

A Georgian mahogany carver armchair. With openwork backrest and reeded mouldings. Condition Report. To be used as a guide only. Slight repair to the back where the right arm joins the top rail having a butterfly join. Two brace supports added to the underside near the front. No other breaks or repair.
An early 20th century Eastern carved hardwood side chair and a circular occasional table raised on four elephant trunk supports (2). CONDITION REPORT: Diameter 46cm. Height 84cm. Overall good condition. Slight wear marks to top. Replacement dowels to top. Chair height 116cm, finial loose. Rear brace possibly replaced. Wear to plank seat. Overall good.
