A pair or brace of signed early 19thC officers' overcoat pistols by Robert Wogdon, both of unusually small bore, one being flintlock, the other having a drum & nipple percussion conversion, with knurled walnut handles, embossed metal grotesque mask terminal butt plates, acorn profiled trigger guards, each with ramrods, signed to the side lock plates, 22cm barrels, 37cm overall. (AF) NB. Robert Wogdon (1733-1813). The Wogdon family originated in Newark but Robert Wogdon's father, John, moved to Grantham, where he set up as a saddler. Robert was baptised on 15th January 1734 in St. Wulfram's Church, Grantham, and married his cousin, Jane Holmes, of Newark, on 16th October, 1766. In between, he had served an apprenticeship as a gunmaker with Edward Newton, of Grantham, one of the best of the provincial gunsmiths. The apprenticeship was for seven years from 21st December, 1748. Newton produced a very wide range of firearms and Wogdon had an excellent training which he put to good use. Much is written about the quality of Wogden's work becoming a leading London maker. He is noted for his duelling pistols to such success that a 1783 stanza on duelling began 'Hail Wogdon, patron of that leaden death...'

Small stool with stained top, scratches, abrasions and other wear. Hexagonal table with restored crack to top, chips, scratches, abrasions and wear, base with iron brace, cracks to leg and column, previously probably a polescreen base adapted. A classic Bedford truck. A 1951 Beford K Type 30-40cwt Registration number NSJ753. It has a 6 cylinder 3519cc petrol engine, 12v electronics and a 4 speed gearbox. With a mind blowing 50-55mph top speed. Brown with Red chassis, running well with no problems paintwork good with no rot (some crazing to lacquer on bonnet). The truck comes with four good wheels, jack, wheel brace, workshop manual and drivers handbook. The registration date on the V5 is 03/03/1998 as it had to be re-registered. A 70 year old in great condition being sold after 25 years of ownership the time has come for someone else to have the pleasure of ownership. Beautifully restored to show and exhibition standards this vehicle is worth a view.

A Brace of 19th Century Indian Percussion Cavalry Pistols, one numbered L856, one numbered L857, each with 21cm octagonal browned twist barrel, plain lock plate, walnut full stock with bag butt, steel belt hook, swivel ramrod, the trigger guard inscribed in Farsi script, contained in an associated oak case, the inner cover set with a paper label to Edward Whistler, London, the interior later green baize lined and fitted with accessories including a shot flask, cap case, turnscrew etc. Actions work, holding at full and half cock. No visible proof marks. Fine pitting to metalwork. Minor bruising to stocks, small chips to fore-ends, one with chips around the trigger guard.
