Known for his natural and colourful figurative style, his watercolours encapsulate his talent and wit. An intrepid traveller, his works were often inspired by the colours and sounds remembered from his trips to Greece, India and Morocco. His work has been regularly exhibited at the Redfern Gallery, alongside a touring museum show in 1985 that began at Birmingham Museum and Art Gallery. He was more recently the subject of an acclaimed retrospective at Huddersfield Art Gallery in 2012.
