1970 Volkswagen T2 Crew Cab Pick-up Transmission: manualMileage:17925The Volkswagen Type 2 Transporter van's forward control layout endowed it with huge versatility allowing it to be configured in a bewildering number of variants, from a hard-core panel van that lacked both rear seats and side windows through to the (reasonably) luxurious Samba Deluxe with its full-length headlining, eight passenger seats and two-tone paint finish. They all shared common mechanical underpinnings including the Beetle's and later Porsche 914's infamous flat-four air-cooled engine at the back. While the Type 2 started off modestly, it gained both capacity and power over the years, ending its life in Germany with a 1600cc, 47bhp engine and, in America, a two litre, 65bhp unit. It is perhaps best known for the Type 2 campervan from the early days when homebrewed concoctions were seen in places as exotic as Iran and Afghanistan. By the time production ended almost 1.5 million Transporters of various hues and roles had rolled off European production lines and it's fair to say that a significant percentage of them are still on the roads thanks to a fanatical following and an almost unparalleled spares and support network. An ultra-rare double-cab pick-up, this 1970 example was restored in South Africa to a very high standard and was fitted with an upgraded Subaru engine whilst there. Imported to the UK in 2021, this Double Cab Pick-up is in excellent condition and drives very well indeed, with the added power of the upgraded engine. Having come from a dry climate and benefitting from a restoration, this Camper is in remarkable condition. Offered with sundry invoices and its current UK registration document, this is one of the best examples we have seen.

2004 Porsche 911 Carrera 4S Transmission: automaticMileage:112178The first 996 Series cars arrived on our shores in October 1997 but only in hardtop Coupé form. Those who wished to have the wind in their hair had to twiddle their thumbs for another year before the cabriolet versions were launched, as well as Carrera 4 all-wheel drive variants. Both manual and the Tiptronic S automatic gearbox were offered. 2001 saw a revision of the 911 Carrera 2 and 4 ranges, with turbo-look headlamps, revised steering and suspension, some interior upgrades, but most importantly of all, a 3.6-litre engine which developed 320bhp.This attractive example is presented in the subtle colour combination of metallic grey with a grey leather interior. The look is enhanced with a factory fitted aero kit and orange brake calipers. Equipment includes satellite navigation, air conditioning and a factory fitted sunroof. The car is powered by a 3.6 litre engine and is mated to a Tiptronic gearbox. The vendor informs us that this Porsche is a joy to drive and has been totally reliable during his tenure. It comes with a stamped service book, a comprehensive MoT test history, various invoices and all the original manuals. This impressive Porsche represents high end sports car motoring at a fraction of the original cost.

Lot 158

1986 Porsche 911 Carrera Sport Targa (3.2 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:110147Development of the Porsche 911 Targa proceeded in line with that of its Coupé sister, the most notable advances immediately prior to the manufacture of this 1986 model having included the introduction of the 3.2 litre engine for 1984. Although it remained an air-cooled flat six, this 3.2 litre engine was 80% new and incorporated an effective cam chain tensioner and a lubrication system that at last addressed the perennial 911 shortcoming. With 230bhp all new, alloy flat six, €˜boxer' engine endowed the Carrera with a stunning level of performance and the 0-60mph time of 5.3 seconds with a top speed of 152mph. Although it enjoyed a 52-horsepower advantage, the 911 Turbo was only marginally faster having a top speed of 157mph, while most considered the normally aspirated 911 Carrera easier to drive. All 3.2 Carreras featured galvanised bodies, which together with Porsche legendary build quality ensure that these Porsche classics are long-lasting and very reliable. This very good, UK supplied, right hand drive Porsche 911 Carrera Sport Targa was first registered on 6th February 1986 and is fitted with the 3.2 litre engine married to the original five speed gearbox. Supplied by AFN London it remained in the home counties before going Scotland in 1993/4, returning to London when the vendor purchased the car in August 2010. This car is supplied with a good service history including the original service book and invoices, it was the subject of a body restoration that was completed in June 2021 prior to a service. Since 2007 this car has covered less than 8,000 miles. Finished in Iris Blue metallic with dark blue, piped white, seats and dark blue interior, this Porsche Carrera is supplied with a V5 registration document, an MoT test certificate which expires in July 2023, the handbook pack containing the owner's manuals and service books and a file with invoices and old MoT test certificates. This very usable classic Porsche is simply a genuine example of one of the most popular and sought-after Porsche models.

Lot 189

2005 Mercedes-Benz McLaren SLR Coupé Transmission: automaticMileage:3357The SLR McLaren, introduced in November 2003, was Mercedes-Benz's foray into the world of the supercar, alongside such cars as the Porsche Carrera GT and the Ferrari Enzo. It was developed in collaboration with the McLaren Technology Centre which, at the time, was partially owned by Mercedes-Benz. While Ferrari and Porsche pursued creating the best all-out supercars that the world had ever seen, Mercedes-Benz and McLaren attempted to create a car that coupled the best aspects of supercars with that of grand tourers. Engineers at Mercedes-Benz and McLaren took care to place the V8 as far back as possible in the chassis in order to improve the car's handling, giving the SLR near-perfect weight distribution. The SLR's engine produces 617bhp at 6,500rpm, thanks to a Lysholm-type twin-screw supercharger. A dash from 0-60mph took 3.8 seconds and the car leads to a quarter mile in just over 11 seconds with a top speed of 206mph. Its AMG Speedshift R transmission provides three manual modes to suit the owner's style of driving. Other remarkable technical features include the Sensotronic 'brake by wire' system, carbon-ceramic disc brakes and an automatic airbrake which can bring the SLR to a screeching halt from 120mph to a dead stop in less than 240 feet. This Mercedes-Benz SLR was manufactured in 2005 and presented in silver, typically synonymous with the Silver Arrows. This low mileage McLaren is in a condition commensurate with such few miles on the clock. The cockpit area of a SLR is a thing of beauty and to drive such a car is a memorable experience. The ultra-comfortable sports seats and luxurious interior are finished in black leather complementing the striking silver exterior. The SLR Coupé is a very versatile vehicle, comfortable to drive at 30mph, yet simply stunning to drive at high speed. The fabulous engine fires up at the press of a button on the gear lever which is reminiscent of a €˜jet fighter' and drives with no known faults. Built in the UK and then shipped to the U.A.E, this SLR was then imported back to the UK in 2012 to our private owner. With a recent MoT test certificate and a UK V5C registration document, this is truly a collectable example with circa 2,085 miles from new. Whether you are driving to your local restaurant or to the South of France, there can be few more exciting ways to travel than a Mercedes-Benz SLR McLaren.Successfully sold at our Bicester sale this lot is being offered again at Mercedes Benz World due to difficulties completing the purchase. No change of ownership has taken place and the lot is offered in identical terms to September when it sold for £277,340. 1998 Honda Integra Type R Transmission: manualMileage:65000In 1993 the Integra was launched as a €˜fairly vanilla' Coupé and in 1995 Honda introduced the world to the B18C Vtec engine and the Integra Type R (R for racing) was born. Not only did the car feature a red line just shy of 9000rpm and over 100bhp per litre, but every element of the cars performance was looked at. Anything unnecessary was removed, so out went air conditioning, sound deadening and even thinner glass and carpets were added to save weight, while elements to improve the performance were added. With a seam welded chassis, strengthened suspension mounting points, bespoke suspension and Recaro SR seats. The car received a modest front spoiler, rear wing and light weight alloy wheels and a titanium gear knob. It was three years later that the Type R made its way to UK shores with only 500 cars allocated and a slightly different frontend with round rather than square head lights. The driving experience of a Honda Integra Type R is ranked as one of the best of any vehicle.  When the car ventures beyond 6000rpm the Vtec opens up and the modest four-cylinder engine changes with a soundtrack ranking along with cars with much higher cylinder counts. The gear change is positive, rifle bolt fast and with a 50/50 balanced chassis the feedback and grip are astonishing especially when you consider the car runs on 15€ 195 width tyres. The below quote from Richard Meaden from Evo issue 95 sums it up €˜It's a car as sweet and all-consuming as any I've experienced at any price, and as pure and focused in its own way as any Porsche RS. Forget the accolade of greatest front-wheel drive car. The Integra Type R ranks as one of the truly great drivers' cars of any kind'. This particular example was sourced by the vendor who wanted the best available, he purchased the car from the leading specialist Torque GT who in turn declared it was one of the best UK editions they have ever seen. It has been used sparingly and has been lavished with a no expense spared maintenance regime. Free from the rust that usually plagues the Integra, due to having no rust protection, this example has recently been cleaned and treated with a clear underbody protection by Rustbuster. Offered with extensive service records, 15 services conducted and many bills showing the works conducted, the car is largely standard with the exception of a stainless-steel exhaust system/manifolds, upgraded suspension (bushes, coil over dampers) and carbon intake (original air box supplied). Recent works include a top end rebuild, new brake calipers and a fresh set of Yokohama tyres. The car has received a stage three detail and full ceramic coat along with new badges. Parts are now becoming hard to source and finding a rust-free, low mileage, Integra is almost impossible and so this car represents somewhat a unicorn. Ready to drive with no known issues and having £1000's recently spent, this must rank as the best available in the UK.

Lot 198

1971 Datsun 240Z Transmission: manualMileage:3401It soon became apparent during its creation, that the Datsun 240Z represented all the requirements of sports-minded drivers by fulfilling their desires for superb styling, power and safety whilst providing them with the most thrilling and enjoyable ride available in any car at that time. Reporting 151bhp and 146lb/ft of torque at just 4,400rpm, Car & Driver said; €˜A brilliantly conceived car with twice as much thought having gone into it when compared to the big Healey, MGC, Lotus Elan, Porsches and Corvettes'. Offering a 125mph top-speed and the 0-60mph dash in a shade under eight seconds, the well-spaced five-speed gear ratios made the most of the engine's torque whilst retaining the ability to achieve in excess of 30mpg, this was to put the €˜Z' ahead of many of its contemporaries and on a par with Porsche 911's of the time. Very impressive, by anyone's standards. Although Datsun didn't invent the overhead-cam engine, disc brakes or all-round independent suspension, the 240Z incorporated all of these systems into a brilliantly conceived car. It was no surprise therefore, that for many years the Datsun 240Z was heralded as the most successful sportscar of all time and was very successful in rallying also. This Datsun was imported into the UK and presents in very good condition. The striking yellow coachwork is in good order as is the black interior. On 25th March 1994 the engine was upgraded to a 280Z engine which is mated to a five-speed gearbox, this was carried out in Idaho in the U.S. at a cost of $1,300. These uncomplicated cars of the period are exceptionally reliable yet offer brisk performance. Supplied with a V5 registration document, this MoT exempt vehicle comes with a host of invoices going back to the 1970's. Japanese sports cars from this era are becoming highly sought after and this Datsun 240Z would grace any collection.

Lot 203

1976 Maserati Bora (4.7 litre) Transmission: manualMileage:23441A rare car, only 42 right hand drive Maserati Boras were built, and just 289 fitted with the larger 4.7 litre engine, from a total production run of 571, and it was largely regarded as Maserati's first supercar. Unveiled in 1971, the Maserati Bora, named after the Adriatic wind, was undoubtedly one of the stars of the Geneva Motor Show. It was also Maserati's first mid-engined car with the glorious 90-degree 4.7-litre development of the Ghibli's V8 engine mounted behind the front seats, producing a healthy 310bhp at 6000rpm. The Bora transmitted its power to the road through a five-speed ZF transaxle gearbox, pushing this stunning Coupé to a top speed of 170mph.Equal to its impressive specification was its design, penned by the great Giorgetto Giugiaro, a man at the top of his game in 1971 and later named €˜Designer of the Century' in 1999, the Bora sought to bring sophistication to the mid-engined platform. Standing just 1138mm high, the Bora stole the show with its stylish, brushed stainless-steel roof and windscreen pillars, and a huge rear window, enveloping a stunning interior with sinuous bucket seats, and sumptuously leather clad dash, door trim, centre console and rear bulkhead. But it was also conceived as a grand tourer, with a decent-sized luggage compartment in the front and a carpeted engine cover in the rear. Maserati also fitted an adjustable pedal box, hydraulically operated brakes and pop-up headlamps, which were just some of the myriad innovations that showed the influence that new owner Citroen was to bring to bear.Customers included Karim Aga Khan and Italian movie producer Carlo Ponti, husband of Sophia Loren, and the Bora quickly proved itself to be a compelling alternative to a Ferrari, Porsche, or Lamborghini, and there is not a finer example on the market today.A €˜no expense spared restoration' and owned by the same family for 50 years, this exceptional Maserati Bora 4.7 litre was clearly a very treasured member of the family, for it has had over £150,000 lavished on it as part of a three-year restoration programme. The history file is remarkable by the sheer volume of invoices for work done between 2015-2018 by the respected restorers Kent High Performance Cars, formerly known as The Ferrari Centre of Maidstone. What started as a restoration estimated at nearly £50,000 tripled to a final cost of £150,000 to ensure that every tiny detail was addressed. It would take pages to itemise the work and be easier to say what has not been done to this car, but it would be difficult to find an example in such superb condition had you walked into the Maserati showroom in Slough back in November 1975 when the car was brand new. With a full engine and mechanical rebuild; complete body restoration and repaint to its original colour (silver); complete trim in Connolly hides to Maserati Vaumol specification and fully detailed, the list goes on. This is surely one of the finest examples available in todays market and is gushingly attractive and has the performance to match. However, it is important to note that the engine, since its rebuild, has developed a misfire, causing it to backfire when running, which has not been properly investigated. Offered without reserve, this presents itself as a very attractive investment. We recommend interested parties should satisfy themselves as to the condition of the lot prior to sale.

Lot 206

1998 Mercedes-Benz 500E Transmission: automaticMileage:80000From 1990 to 1995, Mercedes-Benz sold a high-performance version of the W124, the Mercedes-Benz 500E. It was created in close co-operation with Porsche; each one being hand-built by Porsche and transported back and forth between the Mercedes-Benz plant and Porsche's Rössle-Bau plant in Zuffenhausen, Germany during assembly, with a full 18 days being taken to complete each car. The 500E had a naturally aspirated 5.0 litre, V8 engine derived from the 500SL (R129) and braking performance also came from SL components. The 500E was manufactured as a four-seat saloon and in left-hand drive only. The leather seats were supplied by Recaro with the fronts being electrically operated and heated. Called the 'Wolf in Sheep's Clothing' by the press, performance tests of the day yielded impressive results with 0-62 mph times of 5.5 to 6.0 seconds. The top speed was 161.5mph with the engine speed limited to 6000rpm. With its aggressive stance, wider track, lower profile, flared wheel arches, side skirts, front air-dam and wider tyres, the 500E is easily distinguished from its lesser brethren. This Mercedes-Benz 500E W124 saloon was manufactured in 1991 and first registered in the UK in January 1998. Presenting well in Blue Black which is complemented by a chequered interior trim with leather bolsters, these understated power houses are becoming more popular and we believe rightly so. This desirable pre facelift Mk. I model has benefitted from a £2,000 service with Mercedes specialists SS Motors which included a change to both coolant and brake fluid. Previous owners of the 500E model have included the actor and historic race enthusiast, Rowan Atkinson. This example is offered to auction with a V5C registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until May 2023 and a file containing various receipts for maintenance work carried out since 2018, including a complete new exhaust system. Because of its look, limited numbers, handbuilt construction at Porsche and its unique pedigree, the 500E is already considered a classic, even within Mercedes-Benz and this therefore represents an ideal opportunity to acquire a very special car.

Lot 220

1978 Porsche 911 SC / RS Inspired Lightweight Transmission: manualMileage:500The Porsche 911 is the flagship car of the German manufacturer. It has a distinctive design, rear-engined, with independent rear suspension, an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. Since its introduction in 1963, the 911 has undergone continuous development although the basic concept has remained little changed. Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of competition and is among the most successful competition cars ever. The earliest edition of the 911 had a flat six engine in the €˜boxer' configuration, similar to the 356, air-cooled, rear-mounted and displaced 1991cc. It was mated to a four or five-speed manual €˜Type 901' gearbox. Built over a three period and only finished earlier this year, this fantastic, one of a kind 911 was built for the vendor, a well-known historic 911 racer. Based upon a 1978 911 SC, this project was overseen by renowned Porsche specialist Steve Monk of Bodywerks, Iver and Wrightune based in Oxfordshire. The plan was  to build the ultimate classic roadgoing 911, taking the experience gained by both the vendors years of racing, Steve Monk's and Wrightune's decades of experience building and racing, to build a car that is both comfortable on a tour but also with uprated and capable handling. Headline figures weren't the aim here, nor was the plan to create something with lots of trinkets adorning it. The idea was to make a lightweight, great handling car that had uprated power, but run through carburettors for both great throttle response and glorious intake sound.First registered in February 1978, this very early 911 SC was originally delivered to Glen Henderson Motors, Ayr, Scotland and must be one of the very first in the UK. Steve Monk rebuilt the car from the ground up with the shell receiving attention to the floor pan, new inner and outer sills, new wings front and rear with the rear arches re-shaped to create a more  subtle wider stance. Whilst in a bare state, he also reinforced and lightened the shell and added new SC/RS style lightweight bumpers. The original period style black and cork trim was retained and restored, including the leather seats, the only hint to the car's performance being a new Heigo bolt-in half-cage, together with four-point harnesses and a Momo Black Edition Prototipo steering wheel. All the running gear was either restored or replaced, including all suspension with new dampers, brake calipers and discs. The period Fuchs-style 15€ 7J/8J wheels are shod with Avon period-profile, historic road tyres giving the car a purposeful, period look, whilst also complementing the handling style of the car. The engine was built by Wrightune and the displacement increased to 3.2 litres, with gas flowed cylinder heads, 964 cams and Weber 40ID downdraught carburettors, plus SSI exhaust system and a fully programmable 123Tune ignition system. Meanwhile, power is transferred to the road through a lighter magnesium-cased 915 gearbox.Supplied with a UK V5 registration document, file of receipts and a MoT test certificate valid until October 2023, the vendor reports that the car runs and drives extremely well. Presenting a unique opportunity to own a true €˜jack of all trade's' performance Porsche, conceived and built by the best in the business, this is a 911 not to be missed.

Lot 228

1987 Porsche 911 Carrera Sport Coupé Transmission: manualMileage:101980Originally supplied by Waldron Motors Ltd in Kent, it passed through a number of owners before arriving with Porsche-enthusiast, Mr. John Keeling of Colwyn Bay in 2004 and registering 81,699 miles on the clock. He owned the car for 17 years and was extremely fastidious with maintenance before selling it on in 2021. This classic Guards Red example with contrasting black leather sports seats, black dashboard and steering wheel was originally specified with 16€ Fuchs alloy wheels, a limited slip differential, power steering, central locking and the highly desirable, five-speed, G50 gearbox. Internally, it also benefits from an electrically operated sunroof, a rear window wiper, electric mirrors and electric windows.2015 saw a full photographic brake system refurbishment with the anti-roll bar refurbished, drive shafts all restored or replaced at 99,639 miles. With an MoT test certificate valid until July 2023 and no oil leaks noted anywhere at all, according to the Porsche engineer, it forms part of the extremely comprehensive history file for this car including a fully stamped service book, a Porsche Certificate of Authenticity, invoices and all works completed and an original owner's pack. This represents a pristine and unmolested example with unmarked coachwork and an interior commensurate with careful ownership and very light use, one of the cleanest examples we have seen for many years and something of a rarity in this condition.

Lot 250

1986 BMW 635 CSi Transmission: automaticMileage:152224Successor to the race proven E9 3.0CS/CSi, the BMW 6-series was introduced in August 1976. More forgiving than its predecessors, it utilised a modified version of the 5-series saloon platform equipped with all-round independent suspension and powerful disc brakes. A natural rival to the 928 and XJS, the four-seater 6-series proved more capacious than the Porsche and sportier than the Jaguar. Immediately recognisable thanks to its distinctive 'shark nose' frontal styling and thin pillared glasshouse it boasts real road presence. An impression backed up by the various versions of BMW's mighty M30, SOHC straight-six engine fitted throughout the range. Second only to the BMW Motorsport tuned M6 version, the 635CSi's 3430cc unit developed some 216bhp and 232lbft of torque propelling it from 0-60mph in 8.4 seconds and on to 135mph.This lovely 1986 BMW 635 CSi was purchased about two years ago as a restoration project that had been started. All the suspension and the brakes had been fully rebuilt and a new complete exhaust system fitted. The vendors completed the restoration by stripping the bodywork back to bare metal, repainting the car in the original colour of Cosmos Blue metallic, refurbished the original wheels and fitted new tyres. They fully serviced the engine and gearbox and had a new MoT test certificate carried out which expires in September 2023. The original beige leather interior has been complemented with a new headlining and carpet set. This lovely 635 CSi is supplied with a V5 registration document, the book pack containing handbooks and the service book which is fully stamped up to 2000 at 126,300 miles. Also supplied with the car is a large history file containing invoices of the parts used in the rebuild. This pillarless iconic 80's sportscar is in very good condition, with that imposing shark nose, this is an appreciating classic from BMW and becoming popular with genuine modern classic enthusiasts.

Lot 256

1990 Porsche 944 Turbo Transmission: manualMileage:50980With a not inconsiderable 250bhp available to your right foot, this fabulous example certainly has the bite to back up its good looks. The condition is also excellent, a point not wasted on the vendor or indeed the one before him. It was the personal property of a notable Porsche enthusiast and owner of independent specialist, Porsche Torque in Middlesex for over 15 years. Supplied originally by Lancaster Cambridge and presented in classic Guards Red with a white linen leather interior, it has formed a part of two private Porsche collections over the years, down to two important factors, its low mileage and its superb condition and history. It also benefits from just four previous owners over the last 32 years from new.It came with 16€ Turbo-style alloy wheels, limited slip differential, ABS and power steering. Internal comforts included electric sports seats, air conditioning and electric windows and mirrors. A rare and expensive addition also fitted was a completely removable sunroof. This could be stowed in the boot when not in use and allowed the occupants maximum sun and fresh air without the noise often associated with a convertible. New sparkplugs and cambelts were fitted at the last service some 800 miles ago and an MoT test certificate will accompany the car valid until March next year. Unusually available, a pristine and unmolested example with unmarked coachwork and an interior commensurate with careful ownership and very light use.
