1986 Porsche 911 Targa 3.2 Transmission: manualMileage:73548The Porsche 911 is a luxury two-door sports coupé with a distinctive design, rear engine and independent rear suspension; an evolution of the swing axle on the Porsche 356. It has undergone continuous development although the basic concept has remained virtually unchanged. Throughout its lifetime, the 911 has been modified by private teams and by the factory itself for racing, rallying and other forms of automotive competition. It is among the most successful competition cars ever. In the mid-1970s, normally aspirated 911 Carrera RSRs won major world championship sports car races such as Targa Florio, Daytona, Sebring and Nürburgring, even against prototypes. The 911 derived 935 Turbo also won the coveted 24 Hours Le Mans in 1979. At the 1999 international poll for the award of Car of the Century, the 911 came fifth. It is one of two in the top five that has remained continuously in production (the original Beetle remained in production until 2003) and was until 1998, the most successful surviving application of the air cooled, horizontally opposed rear-engine layout. This delightfully handsome Porsche 911 Targa was originally registered on 1st August 1986. The white coachwork on this galvanised body 911 is exquisite with excellent panel gaps and a splendid paint finish. The blue leather trim appears to be original and has a delightful patina. The 3164cc six-cylinder fuel injected engine runs extremely well, this is mated to a five-speed manual gearbox and we are advised this Porsche drives with no known faults. Complemented by a rear whale fin and colour co-ordinated wheels, this really is an eye-catching car. Over a three-year period and with the help of a retired mechanic, the previous owner recommissioned this Porsche with a 'no expense spared' attitude and with great attention to detail. The net result is a Porsche 911 Targa of the highest quality. The current owner purchased this car in July 2018 and has kept it to the same high standard having it regularly service and maintained by Brookspeed Porsche, Eastleigh, Hampshire with the last service being carried out in May of this year. The car is supplied with a V5C registration document, a current MoT test certificate valid until 9th April 2024 and a file containing invoices and old MoT's after 2014. Demand for these air-cooled Porsches remains strong with examples as good as this hard to come by.

1999 Marcos Mantaray 4.6 Transmission: manualMileage:14149Marcos was originally founded in 1959 by BRDC member and racer, Jem Marsh and engineer, Frank Costin. The latter had experience building wooden aeroplanes and he put this knowledge to good use in early Marcos cars with the extensive use of plywood as part of their chassis. Various changes of ownership and physical location took place over the ensuing decades and various models came and went, all known for their combination of simplicity and high performance. In the late 1990's their mainstream product was the 'Mantis' which was offered with a potent Rover V8 engine, similar to the TVR's of the day. This model eventually 'morphed' in to the much improved and prettier 'Mantaray', with the re-styled bonnet from the Mantara GTS and with a new shape rear-end. Mechanically the car was identical to the Mantara. It was offered with 4.0 and 4.6 litre Rover V8 as well as the 2.0 litre, and 2.0 litre turbo Rover Tomcat engines. Only 11 were made with the 4.0 litre, and seven with the 4.6 litre engine. Total factory production was 26, plus one car in chassis/body component form.Being one of only seven built with the potent 4.6 litre Rover V8 engine, this pretty Mantaray is an incredibly rare car. Owned by the vendor since 2005, the car has been well cared for in his tenure and presents incredibly well. He purchased it from well-known Porsche specialist, Paul Stephens who had been using it as his personal car. The car's history file contains the original order documentation showing the car to be one of the seven 4.6 litre V8 cars as well as including receipts from Marcos Heritage and an original sales brochure. The vendor had the car re-chipped by Power Engineering in Uxbridge with a 'sensible' tune which reportedly produced a potent 250bhp at the wheels! The car was serviced by Marcos Heritage in 2022 where the adjustable wishbones and newly replaced shock absorbers were all set up to factory specifications. A larger fan has been fitted to replace the smaller twin system and in 2022 the car also benefitted from a replacement fuel system. The vendor reports the car to run and drive very well and is only now selling due to lack of use. Supplied with a V5C registration document, original handbook, sales brochure, original order form, various receipts and a spare set of Team Dynamics wheels. An incredibly rare and unique piece of British motoring history that is a far rarer alternative to the more common TVR. This potent vehicle turns heads wherever it goes.

Lot 234

1973 Porsche 911 Targa Transmission: manualMileage:The original Porsche 911 was introduced in autumn 1963 and manufactured until 1989. It was succeeded by a modified version, internally referred to as Porsche 964, but still sold as Porsche 911, as are current models. Mechanically, the 911 was notable for being rear engine and air-cooled and, from its inception, the 911 was modified both by private teams and the factory itself for racing, rallying and other types of competition. The original 911 series is often cited as the most successful competition car ever, especially when its variations are included; namely the powerful 911 derived 935 which won the 24 Hours Le Mans and other major sports car races outright against prototypes. Of all the derivatives and years in which the 911 was produced the 1973 Targa was perhaps one of the most sought-after, the '73 had the narrower bumpers which are especially popular and deemed more attractive on the early 911 with a style that modern 'restomod' or backdated styles such as Singer replicate allowing top down motoring with the glass back window which the model of course didn't start out with.First registered in August 1973, this 2.4 litre F-Series 911 Targa was delivered to the UK from new and has been comprehensively restored and transformed by Rindt Vehicle Design. In single ownership between 1985 and 2020, as detailed in the history file. Finished in Irish Green, full details of the bodywork and mechanical attention carried out include complete strip, prep and bare-metal repaint in Irish Green, carried out to the highest standards, new nearside floor pan and nearside 'kidney bowl', full interior strip and re-finish in Tartan, new dash trim, new inner and outer sill protectors, fresh chrome bumper mouldings, new front and rear windscreen rubbers, sun visors, new horns and fitment of new Targa roof seals. The engine was removed from the vehicle, stripped, serviced and fitted with new upper and lower cam covers, new oil pipes where required and repairs to the wiring loom undertaken. This is now a beautifully restored example of a period air-cooled Porsche that attracts attention wherever it goes, viewing is highly recommended.

Lot 205

1985 Porsche 911 Cabriolet (3.2 Litre) Transmission: manualMileage:122000Many a car enthusiast, at one time or another, has dreamt of owning a Porsche 911 and few have set the pulses racing like the poster car for the 80's generation than the 930 with its iconic whale tail accompanied by fabulous performance. Launched in 1984 and reviving the 'Carrera' name for the first time since 1977, the most notable advance on the 80's Carrera was the introduction of the 3.2 litre engine; although it remained an air-cooled 'flat-six', the 3.2 was 80% new. With 231bhp on tap, the new 'boxer' motor endowed the Carrera with a level of performance approaching that of the original 911 Turbo of 1974, a torque-rich 231bhp, enough to propel the lithe and slippery coupé to over 150mph with 0-60mph coming up in 5.6 seconds. All 3.2 Carrera's feature galvanised bodies which, together with Porsche's legendary build quality, ensure that these classics are long lasting. This example is presented in the iconic Guards Red with a black interior. Prior to our vendor purchasing the car, it had been owned by a charity who were very kindly gifted the car. It spent a long period of time in storage before being sold, so has recently been through a recommissioning process focussing on ensuring the car drives exactly as it should, the brakes had some attention due to the lack of use and the car was fully serviced. The car will be driven from Exeter to the sale. The car has a huge history file containing various invoices over the years for servicing and other works. An air-cooled 911 is always going to be something truly special, even more so in 2023 as Porsche celebrates its 75th anniversary, so why not join in the fun?

Lot 178

1987 Porsche 911 Super Sports Transmission: manualMileage:107060Introduced in 1984, the Porsche 911 Carrera 3.2 was the last incarnation of the 'pure' 911 and was a replacement for the SC model, made between 1978 and 1983. The engine capacity was increased to 3.2 litres, Bosch fuel injection was fitted, and power was up to 231bhp, at least for the European market. With a lack of driver aids such as ABS and power steering, the Carrera 3.2 is said to offer one of the purest 911 driving experiences. Rarest of them all is the 'Turbo look' widebody, known as the 'Super Sport' in the UK. The lucky few buyers would have had to place their order through the 'Sonderwusch' (special wishes) programme and stump up in excess of £10,000 over the base price.Presented in Guards Red with a black leather trim and boasting the Super Sport code '491', this widebody, turbo wing example had been owned by its vendor since 2005. The original service booklet shows a comprehensive service history with main dealer and specialists until 2002 and 81,132 miles, since this date it has been cared for both by vendor and a local mechanic who was a Porsche enthusiast. Countless MoT test certificates show that since 2002 the mileage has year on year been reducing with the last few years trips restricted to 150-200 miles only, the car has however always remained garaged in this time. A car that boasts just six former keepers, one being husband and wife, this example will also receive a new MoT test certificate prior to the sale and represents one of the most desirable 80's Porsche's money can buy. The History file includes the full book pack, V5C registration document, MoT test certificates and valuations from JZM Porsche coupled to a number of invoices and technical specifications. This example with the G50 gearbox and 3.2 litre flat-six engine has to be seen to be appreciated and will be very popular given the upswell in 80's 911 values.

Lot 185

1998 Porsche 911/996 Carrera 2 Transmission: manualMileage:35813The Porsche 996 is the internal designation for the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between 1998 and 2005. On its debut, the 996 featured the most significant changes to the Carrera model since its 1963 introduction, namely the water-cooled engine replacing the previously air-cooled unit. Progressively stringent noise regulations, environmental concerns, a higher expectation for refinement and a high-performance, four-valve per cylinder engine made the switch necessary. Other changes included a sleeker body with a more steeply raked windshield and a re-designed interior.First registered in February 1998, this 3.4 litre Carrera C2 has covered a mere 35,813 miles from new and comes with a full service history, its last major service was only 613 miles ago at 35,200 miles when it had a new radiators, an air-conditioning radiator, new front discs and pads plus a clutch replacement. Supplied new in Guards Red with grey leather interior and with factory fitted options including an Aerokit body and six-speed gearbox. Stored in heated, de-humidified storage for the past few years, the car has just been recommissioned and has just had a new battery installed along with an oil and filter service and a new MoT test certificate valid until May 2024. Indeed, the vendor reports the car to run and drive very well with its 296bhp, 3.4 litre, flat six engine howling as any Porsche flat six engine should.Supplied with a V5C registration document, original handbooks and two sets of keys. Finding one of these first year of production water cooled Carrera's with such low mileage is nigh on impossible and this car represents an opportunity not to be missed.Interested parties should note that contrary to the catalogue description, the Aerokit may not have been factory fitted. There is no code referring to it as an option on the bonnet sticker. However, the stamp on the bottom of the boot lid suggests it was dealer fitted.

Lot 216

1988 BMW 635 CSi Highline Transmission: automaticMileage:33865Successor to the race proven E9 3.0CS/CSi, the BMW 6-Series was introduced in August 1976. More forgiving than its predecessors, it utilised a modified version of the 5-Series saloon platform equipped with all-round independent suspension and powerful disc brakes. A natural rival to the 928 and XJS, the four-seater 6-Series proved more capacious than the Porsche and sportier than the Jaguar. Immediately recognisable thanks to its distinctive 'shark nose' frontal styling and thin pillared glasshouse it boasts real road presence. An impression backed up by the various versions of BMW's mighty M30, SOHC straight-six engine fitted throughout the range. Second only to the BMW Motorsport tuned M6 version, the 635CSi's 3430cc unit developed some 216bhp and 232lbft of torque propelling it from 0-60mph in 8.4 seconds and on to 135mph.One of the best E24 BMWs we have had the pleasure to auction, beautifully finished in Cirrus Blue metallic with a full Highline extended Nappa leather interior, this example of the collectable 635 CSi Highline boasts just one previous husband and wife owner who owned and maintained the car whilst living in Jersey until 2018, they then brought the car to the UK, where we are told the car was always garaged before being sold to its current keeper. Offered with the original bill of sale and complete book pack with three sets of keys. Sitting on correct TRX wheels and the options of 'M Sport' electrically adjustable seats, air conditioning and rear blind. This example appears completely original throughout including original stickers, factory grease on hinges, original unused spare, toolkit and original first aid kit and also shows original clean 'stone chip' visible underneath and in the aches. Presented with a good service history with invoices going back to the 90s as well as recent extensive expenditure including battery tray repair, suspension work, post MoT test certificates and new correct Michelin TRX tyres which are nearly £2,000 alone. We are advised it drives wonderfully, like a five year old car, not a 35 years old one and viewing is highly recommended.

Lot 165

1989 Porsche 944 Turbo S Transmission: manualMileage:121000The Porsche 944 was built from 1982 to 1991 and was built on the same platform as the 924. It was intended to last into the 1990's but major revisions planned for a 944 S3 model were eventually rolled into the 968 instead which replaced the 944. The 944 was a successful model and was available as both a coupé and cabriolet in naturally aspirated and turbocharged forms. In mid-1985, the Porsche 944 underwent significant changes. In 1988, Porsche introduced the 944 Turbo S with a more powerful engine 250bhp 258 lb‹…ft of torque at 4,000rpm. This higher output was achieved by using a larger KKK K26-8 turbocharger housing and revised engine mapping which allowed maintaining maximum boost until 5800rpm, compared to the standard 944 Turbo. In June 1988, Car and Driver tested the 944 Turbo S (with the advantage of shorter final drive gear) and achieved a 0-60 mph acceleration time of 5.5 seconds and a quarter mile time of 13.9 seconds. Top speed was factory rated at 162mph. The post 1985 cars, turbos and S variants are considered more desirable than the earlier cars, having improved interiors, suspensions and engines, together with a limited slip differential and larger brakes.Presented in Glacier Blue with a pinstripe blue velour trim with blue leather, this late 944 turbo S is offered with the extras such as sports M030 sports pack, 'big black' brakes, limited slip differential, electric seats, electric windows, electric heated mirrors, electric sunroof, electric tailgate, upgraded sound system, headlight washers, ABS, power steering. Described as in a very good condition with no rust issues, completely solid and driving beautifully boasting just five former keepers. The car comes with a comprehensive service history and a thick folder of receipts and paperwork, as well as all the original manuals, including original option stickers, a host of MoT test certificates covering the last 30 years, two keys, original Porsche leather folder, original space saver and a set of original tools. Within the history file we can find that some of the recent works include a new head gasket, water pump, rollers, tensioners, belts, new brake lines fitted at Octane Garage. The sills were taken care of before the undercarriage and an anti-corrosion treatment, then a quality full body respray in the original rare Glacier Blue colour was undertaken at CMS Coachworks. At 120,000 miles Koni adjustable shocks were fitted and 1,000 miles later the brakes were reconditioned, turbo pressure release valve replaced as were the fuel pump, cooling fan, sunroof and driver door seals. The most recent service was in January 2023 with an MoT test certificate in January 2023 with no advisories. It is rare to find the desirable late 944 Turbo's in such condition and this UK supplied right hand drive manual sportscar is an 80's treat!
