An exhibition award winning 5 inch gauge model of a London North Western Railway Teutonic Class 2-2-2-0 tender locomotive No 1304 'Jeanie Deans', built by Mr David Roberts of Eccles.Manchester. The silver soldered copper boiler fitted with stainless steel radiant superheaters, water feed via two injectors feeding into backhead check valves, which is as fitted to the full size locomotives. Fittings including water sight gauge, normal on the LNW, regulator, whistle fitted high near the cab roof, screw reverser controls as per the high pressure engines, the low pressure cylinder is fitted with slip eccentric gear which cannot be reversed by the driver when stationary. Chassis having three cylinders fitted with inverted Joy valve gear , high pressure cylinders 1 3/16th diameter by 2 1/8 in stroke.Low pressure cylinder 2 5/8th diameter by 2 1/8th stroke. Cylinder lubrication is by a double ram oscillating pump underneath the engine, with separate feeds to the high pressure steam chests. The oil tank is filled by a pipe on the left hand side. There is in addition provision for oiling the HP cylinders by removing the screw over the cylinders. The low pressure piston can be lubricated by oiling down the blast pipe, this valve being of the balanced type. The tender is of timber framed construction, the timbers joined by steel angles; an archaic method by 1890, but used on all Webb's tenders. The draw is transmitted from the loco by two steel rods to the rear hook to avoid strains on the woodwork . The locomotive finely finished with fitted hand rails, steps and lamp irons. -360-334 Awards: The locomotive was awarded Second Prize at the Midlands Exhibition, 1996, and a Silver Medal at the Model Engineer Exhibition, Olympia, in December 1998 . * Original full size Locomotive history: LONDON & NORTH WESTERN RAILWAY 3-Cylinder Compound Express Passenger Locomotive 'Jeanie Deans 'Teutonic" Class. -360-334 The old London & North Western had ten of these engines. They were built at the company s Crewe Works in 1889-90 under the direction of Francis Webb, Chief Mechanical Engineer and were modified versions of the earlier Dreadnought class. -360 The engines used Webb s system of compounding, in which steam from the boiler passes to the two outside cylinders, driving the back wheels. The exhaust passes to a single cylinder driving the centre axle. The axles were not coupled so all the initial starting effort was provided by the back wheels and, in addition the low pressure cylinder was fitted with a slip eccentric and could not be reversed from the cab, making the engines notoriously bad starters. -360-334 Despite their faults, the Teutonics are regarded as the best of Webb s 3-cylinder compounds and hauled many of the North-Western s principal expresses throughout the eighteen-nineties. After Webb s retirement in 1903 his successor quickly scrapped these engines. Jeanie Deans was broken up in 1906. * Jeanie Deans is the heroine of Sir Walter Scott s novel Heart of Midlothian , the engine being exhibited in Edinburgh in 1890. -360-334

Whilst the engine has spent much of its life on display, it was built as a running model and has proved a fine performer on the track - its last outing was in July of this year at the Echills Wood Railway's "Standard Gauge Weekend" event. Built as one of a legendary pair, her sister locomotive is in a private collection in Switzerland. * The British Railways BR Standard Class 9F 2-10-0 is a class of steam locomotive designed for British Railways by Robert Riddles. The Class 9F was the last in a series of standardized locomotive classes designed for British Railways during the 1950s, and was intended for use on fast, heavy freight trains over long distances. It was one of the most powerful steam locomotive types ever constructed in Britain, and successfully performed its intended duties. The class earned a nickname of 'Spaceships', due to its size and shape. At various times during the 1950s the 9Fs worked passenger trains with great success, indicating the versatility of the design, sometimes considered to represent the ultimate in British steam development. Several experimental variants were constructed in an effort to reduce costs and maintenance, although these met with varying degrees of success. The total number built was 251, production being shared between Swindon (53) and Crewe Works (198). The last of the class, 92220 Evening Star , was the final steam locomotive to be built by British Railways, in 1960. Withdrawals began in 1964, with the final locomotives removed from service in 1968. Several examples have survived into the preservation era in varying states of repair, including Evening Star .

Registration : PK02 URP Chassis Number : ZD4RP00002S102254 Engine Number : R0959324 Odometer reading : 25,120 Estimate : £2,000 - £3,000 The Aprilia RSV Mille was manufactured from 1998 to 2003 and. offered in three versions, RSV Mille, RSV Mille R, and RSV Mille SP. The first RSV Mille (ME) was made from 1998 to 2000, the updated RSV Mille (RP) from 2001 to 2002 and the last update was made in 2003. With a 998cc, 60° V-twin engine built by the Austrian company Rotax, the RSV Mille was the first large displacement motorcycle made by Aprilia that up to then had made up to 250cc engines. This same engine was used unmodified in the Tuono and in slightly modified form in the SL1000 Falco. The Mille featured a type of slipper clutch which worked by using a vacuum on a closed throttle from the inlet manifold to give the effect of slipper clutch but only on a closed throttle. The first changes were made in 2001 when the fairing was restyled adding wind deflectors to improve airflow. The fuel tank was changed to a plastic item and the rear shock on both the standard and the 'R' models was revised. In 2002, the front brake calipers were changed to Brembo Monobloc four-pad callipers, each piston having a separate pad gave an increase in braking performance and feel. This hugely sporting machine has a number of modifications which just go to enhance the look and feel of this already stylish example. These include a number of carbon fibre sections and a more toned-down matt black paint work. It is also worth noting that this is the larger engined model with a 1000cc, V-twin motor and a Datatag electronic security system installed. Supplied with a V5 registration document and an MoT test certificate valid until May 2016, this striking and extremely rapid sports bike is now available for its next brave owner.
Registration : 108 YUR Chassis Number : 9698 Engine Number : 11127 Odometer reading : 21,274 miles Estimate : £5,500 - £7,500 In 1933, Velocette decided to introduce a new line of overhead valve machines in order to cut production costs and make a more affordable motorcycle. The K-Series was expensive to produce, requiring selective hand assembly of the shaft-and-bevel camshaft drive; it was determined that a simpler OHV design would be quicker to build and require less skilled labour to assemble. The first of these new machines was the MOV, using a 250cc engine of 'square' dimensions. It was an immediate success, having lively performance for the time and proved a reliable machine with excellent road manners. Velocette went on to build a 350cc version for use primarily by the British army. It is one of these that is the basis for this modified version. Whilst the frame and ancillaries are correct, it was an MAC in origin but has now been converted to the far more desirable and better performing MOV specification with a 250cc engine installed. It also has a new cylinder head, cylinder and piston and is reported to run very well indeed with a very lively motor. Restored just two years ago, all chrome work, exhaust and paintwork is in good condition and the motorcycle, overall, presents well. It has been carefully maintained by a long standing Velocette enthusiast and forms part of a fascinating collection of these classic English motorcycles.
Registration : V550 DRU Chassis Number : CGVF400AAXV000167 Engine Number : F4000215 Estimate : £21,000 - £25,000 Introduced in 1998, the MV Agusta F4 was the motorcycle that resurrected the legendary name of MV Agusta. It was designed by Massimo Tamburini at the MV Agusta's famed Cagiva Research Centre in San Marino; Tamburini having been previously responsible for the design of the Ducati 916. The engine of the new MV, a liquid cooled in line four cylinder with double overhead camshafts, four valves per cylinder, electronic multipoint fuel injection and induction discharge electronic ignition was designed to be made three different capacities; 749.5cc, 998cc and 1,078cc. It was influenced by the 1990-1992 Ferrari Formula One engine and is one of few production superbikes to feature a four-valves-per-cylinder engine with hemispherical combustion chambers. It is also unique in that it is the only motorcycle engine currently in production to feature radial valves, a feature taken from the Ferrari Formula One engine. Power output of the initial model, the750, was 126bhp at 12,500rpm, enabling it to reach a top speed of 170mph with 0-60 achievable in 3.1 seconds and a standing quarter mile in less than eleven seconds. The first F4 model released to the public was the F4 750 Serie Oro on May 1999, of which only 300 examples were produced and just twenty one of those imported into the UK. With the bodywork resplendent in the traditional MV Agusta livery of red and silver, many parts such as the swinging arm, frame side plates and wheels were made of magnesium and anodised gold - hence the name 'Oro' (Italian for gold). The fuel tank, fairing, seat cover, front mud guard and air box were made of carbon fibre which enabled the weight to be kept under 400 lb - an extraordinarily light weight for a road going superbike. The Showa front forks were specially made for MV Agusta and feature quickly detachable axle clamps while the rear suspension was manufactured by Sachs. Six piston (front) and four piston (rear) brake calipers were provided by Nissin. Contemporary road tests enthused over the F4's incredible handling, and were confident that the new MV would be a success, securing the future of the MV Agusta name. The F4 750 Serie Oro was considered to be one of the best sports bikes in the world at the time of its release and the bike offered here today is number 167 of the 300 produced. The vendor, a connoisseur of sporting motorcycles and competitor on the gruelling Paris-Dakar Rally, is the original owner, having been fortunate enough to be selected from the waiting list for the launch of the eagerly awaited new MV Agusta. The bike is in as-new condition, having covered a mere 1,200km from new and used for long trips only. For the past few years the MV has taken pride of place in the vendor's sitting room; perhaps the ideal storage conditions. UK registered from new, the MV comes with a V5C registration certificate and we are informed by the vendor that a full service will be carried out before the auction, coupled with a MoT test certificate. This is an exceptionally rare motorcycle and, as the first example of the revived MV Agusta, is sure to become very desirable and a true collector's item. It can, surely, only increase in value.
Registration : SV4580 Chassis Number : J681 Engine Number : D2479 Estimate : £4,500 - £6,500 The BSA Sloper, so named because of its inclined cylinder configuration, was launched in 1927 and was designed by Harold Briggs, who had joined BSA from the Daimler car company. Initially available only as a 500 (or S series), the Sloper was a very influential design, with two of its key features becoming widely copied; the inclined engine (hence the name 'Sloper') and the saddle tank, which enabled a low seating position, improving the centre of gravity and handling. The first models featured a 493cc (80x98mm) engine and a single port cylinder-head, topped by a cast-aluminum cover for the rockers but featuring exposed valve springs. Alongside the cast iron cylinder barrel were plated tubes to cover the pushrods. Gentle camshaft contours and wide bases on the tappets helped to achieve a quiet and smooth running engine and the large crankcase accommodated a big and heavy flywheel, to aid low speed torque. The gearbox contained three speeds and the wet sump lubrication system featured separate, hand operated metering. Offering good performance and handsome looks, the Sloper quickly established itself as a rider's favourite. There was also the option of a specially tuned engine with higher compression ratio and special cams. A 349cc (L series) version was offered from 1929 and the engines now featured a fashionable two port cylinder head with twin exhausts and fishtail silencers. For 1930 chrome plate replaced nickel on all the bright work and there was a new frame with a forged steel spine in place of the previous duplex type. The Sloper range had increased to six models by 1930 but was reduced thereafter and by the time of the Sloper's demise in 1935 there were just two models, both of 595cc; one overhead-valve, the other, a side -valve. This rare 1929 L29 model 350 was actually delivered in December 1928 to a Mr. Waldson, according to the factory despatch records. It was recorded as being in Pembrokeshire from 1992 until 2008 when it was purchased by the vendor who, after riding a Sloper at the VMCC Training Day at Curbourough in 2007, said he was so impressed by the forgiving nature of the Sloper that he decided he must have one. It has since been used in many VMCC events including the prestigious Banbury Run in 2009, 2012 and 2013. Work done to the BSA, while in the vendor's hands, includes an engine overhaul involving the fitment of a new piston, cylinder liner, valves , springs and guides; a rebuild of the Lucas MDB1 magdyno and renewal of the steering head bearings. The BSA comes with a V5C and a history file which includes receipts for the work described above. Ready for a new owner to ride and enjoy, the BSA is offered for sale at a very attractive estimate.
