Heinrici's were one of the most successful hot air engine manufacturers between 1879 and the 1920s. A similar example can be seen in the late Sir William McAlpine's private collection at Fawley Hill Museum, Oxfordshire.

Lot 108

A multiple National Show-winner in the past, and fastidiously maintained by its long-term owner ever since, this astonishing little Cooper is being offered at No Reserve. Built on 18th of April 1968, finished in Snowberry White with a Black roof, STG 95F was supplied by the City Motor Company in Cardiff and was issued with a Glamorgan registration mark prior to joining its first owner. Amazingly, the car stayed with the same family until 2005. Whilst in this long-term ownership, it was issued with its final MOT Certificate on 13th September 1986 at which point it had a recorded mileage of 43,466. It was then used periodically over the following year before being taken off the road and put into dry storage where it was to remain until 2005.The owner prior to our vendor purchased it that same year and commenced, what was to become, a prolonged restoration involving many hundreds of hours of dedicated time and, according to invoices within the history file, over £6,500 worth of brand new parts. The process began with a photographically documented removal of all parts which was painstakingly carried out over a period of three years. In 2008, the rebuild began in earnest with a fastidious, possibly even obsessive, attention to detail and originality. The restoration was to original factory specification and a full description of this is available in an album that has been put together by the owner. This is available to view at the auction and is included in the sale. The bodywork was completely reworked to the very highest standards using new panels which were all the trial-fitted prior to painting. The underside of this Mini Cooper is every bit as good as on the top, being fully painted and detailed throughout. The engine was fully rebuilt to standard specification with new piston rings, oil pump and a complete new cooling system. The cylinder head was converted to run on unleaded fuel and the engine bay was detailed to a show standard. Many new parts have gone into this restoration including a new rear sub-frame, the front sub-frame has been stripped rebuilt and painted, there are new brake calipers, master cylinder, brake lines, steering rack and tie rods etc. The list is extensive. The work was completed in late-2010/early-2011 and its proud owner lost no opportunity to enter the car in shows and Concours d’Elegance events both locally and nationally. For the record, some of its success are listed below:National Mini Show 2011-Class Winner.National Mini Show 2011-Car of the Year.National NEC Classic Car Show selected for display on the Meguiars Concours standNational Mini Cooper Day 2011-Beaulieu ‘Master Class’ WinnerMiniFest - First Class WinnerThese successes in 2011 may seem a little irrelevant as they relate to 12 years ago, however the important bit is that this astonishing little Cooper has covered less than 150 miles since our vendor's purchase in 2012 at 50,289 miles. It hasn’t been left in long-term storage but, on the contrary, has been totally cherished by our South Wales-based vendor and has been taken everywhere by trailer. Consequently, it remains in the same condition that it displayed during its 'Show-Queen' season in 2011, and the odometer indicates just 50,437 miles. The history file now extends to three folders of photographic history, and we invite and encourage you to view this remarkable Mini to fully appreciate the quality on offer.Specification Make: MORRIS Model: MINI COOPER Year: 1968 Chassis Number: KA2S61154210A Registration Number: STG 95F Transmission: Manual Engine Number: 9FD-SAH34665 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 50437 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images
