Lot 35

Registration – TSV 815 Chassis No. – CAPR14152 M.O.T. – Exempt Odometer – TBC ‘TVS815’ is a fine looking example of the 650cc, twin-cylinder Huntmaster hailing from 1958, the penultimate year of production. Offered here from an eighteen year period of long term, enthusiast ownership. Prior to this just two former keepers span the remaining 50 years of this motorcycle’s life. ‘TVS815’ offers a fine degree of originality, with a couple of non-standard features noted. These include a Mikuni carburettor, Boyer electronics and a high-compression piston. Complete with a number of earlier MOT copies, ‘TVS815’ is classified as an Historic Vehicle and so zero rated for vehicle excise duty and MOT exempt in the UK. Offered with NO RESERVE, ‘TVS815’ represents a rare and tempting example of one of the last four stroke Ariels. ‘TVS815’ is presented in bright red livery predominantly favoured by Ariel in this period. The tank is finished in a two tone arrangement of black and red and features rubber knee pads and twin Ariel badges. Side panels and enclosed rear mudguard are red painted with the reminder of bodywork in chrome or black. A low and wide, black vinyl finished pillion saddle competes the authentic 1950’s look. The polished alloy 650cc engine presents well with nicely polished cases and black finned cylinder bores. The current owner considers the engine, transmission and electrics of ‘TVS815’ to be “excellent,” with the remainder judges as “good.” The Huntmaster was launched in 1954, three years after BSA acquired Ariel. It is no surprise then, that the Huntmaster shares numerous commonalities with the BSA A10 650cc motorcycle. The Huntmaster is considered by connoisseurs as a tough and high quality British 650cc twin. The welded frame is heavy duty, and the engine considered bullet proof with the right maintenance. A four speed Burman gearbox was specified which also proved very durable. With originally around 35bhp on offer and a dry weight of around 190 kg, the Huntmaster was a true 100mph motorcycle in the right conditions. In summary: · An excellent example of this well-respected post-war British 650cc twin · Offered from a series of just three long-term owners to date · Complete with some accompanying paperwork and thoughtful updates
