Aviation Pioneer Henry Vallance hand written letter regarding DH89 1988. With Biography page. The 22-yr-old, debonair Henry Vallance was catapulted into the public eye in no uncertain terms in 1937. He had joined Allied Airways Ltd at Dyce, Aberdeen, to fly scheduled Services to Caithness, Orkney and Shetland in twin-Engined De Havilland Dragon and Dragon Rapide Bi-planes. On 29th April 1937, they were asked to fly a dangerously ill Lighthouse-man from Esha Ness on the North-west tip of Shetland's Mainland, to Hospital in Edinburgh. The man could not be moved far to meet the Plane, so the Plane had to be landed in a small field close to the Lighthouse. Henry touched down 1st time, but realising he couldn't stop in time before the rocks ahead, overshot and went around again. Taking off was more difficult as the area cleared for him was not large enough to allow a proper run. When he retired in 1971, Henry had flown all their Piston and Jet-engined Types, was Flying the long-haul DC-8s, was a Senior Captain of the highest Grade, and had notched up an amazing final total of 28, 123 flying hours. His wife, Dorothy, died in 1992. . Good condition. All autographs come with a Certificate of Authenticity. We combine postage on multiple winning lots and can ship worldwide. 1973 Jensen Viperceptor Transmission: automaticMileage:2496The Jensen Viperceptor was built in 2013 by Valley Gas Speed Shop in Hampshire with the intention of re-defining what the Jensen Interceptor may have become if it were still in production. Every detail and upgrade was developed, lifted from its past and re-engineered to meet the demands of modern motoring. Described as powerful without being aggressive, luxurious without feeling spoilt and most importantly uniquely handbuilt from the ground-up to give the driver a constant reminder of the definition of luxury from a past era alongside 21st century engineering and looks. The vision of Brook Anderson, who began the project in 2013 with a 1974 Jensen the intention was to build a run of 25 Viperceptors for clients. Alongside the team at Valley Gas Speed Shop in Hampshire he set to work on creating the Viperceptor, two years of work realising this creation with 510hp and 535lb ft of torque from a Dodge Viper 8.3 lire V10. The body was completely stripped of all components before being chemically stripped and new redesigned panels fitted. Other work included the shell seam sealed and waxoyled and a redesigned front valance, rear valance, side skirts, side vents and doors were all fitted direct from the CAD design as were the redesigned inner wings. Due to the new powertrain the bulkhead and transmission tunnel was re-fabricated and a new bespoke design fuel tank added, rounded off with a 3€³ stainless steel exhaust with balance pipe and Borla exhaust boxes. Finishing touches came in the form of modern electrically operated door mirrors, Chrysler 300C angel eye headlights, all black chrome window glass surrounds, de-locked diode-operated doors and impressive new 20€ Wheels.Underneath all the exterior lies the heart of the Viperceptor, the Dodge Viper 8.3 litre engine matched to a four-speed gearbox from a Dodge Ram and independent suspension. At just under 1270kgs and 535 lb·ft of torque, the power we are told is outstanding with the handling well defined and direct. The adapted body is firm and poised compared to the original, which provides confidence of 21st century engineering keeping everything in balance. To achieve this, naturally such a car needs a fair amount of modification to put this power down, slow the V10 monster down and enable modern handling, the brakes are uprated to hi-spec 14½inch vented and slotted discs with six-pot calipers at the front and hi-spec 13½inch vented and slotted discs with four-pot calipers to the rear. The transmission is a four-speed 42RLE automatic gearbox with overdrive, bespoke propshaft, the suspension has been treated to uprated Spax fully adjustable dampers with modified springs, a 2.89:1 Salisbury Powerlock limited slip differential mounted in a new bespoke carrier system with a refurbished independent wishbone system, retained with geometry alterations for increased caster and negative camber anti roll bar. The concept was to deliver something extraordinary, a breathtaking piece of motoring art that also delivers a very unique driving experience. The interior was not to be outdone, with front and rear seats and all other trim items recovered in the highest quality leather hide to new subtle design that was both modern but providing a traditional look, an all-new carpet set with leather edging can be found under your feet whilst looking at the original dashboard recovered in leather but with a redesigned front and rear centre console and new white electronic speedometer and gauges. All of this rounded off with a leather three spoke Mota Lita steering wheel and modern Satnav/MP3 with Bluetooth connectivity. This is not a car that has gone unnoticed, since its creation YouTubers, bloggers and journalists alike have covered the story. The intention from Valley Gas to produce 25-50 of these originally a wealth of information can be found online including footage of the car at the NEC cars show and market reports from Piston Heads. The history file is extensive with bills and details from the builder Valley Gas coupled to recent invoices from them equating to £27,000 for a recommissioning and full service due to the car having been part of a US collection for a number of years. Our vendor states that nothing turns heads quite like this car, he has on more than one occasion been stopped at traffic lights and service stations, chased by YouTubers and videoed at car events. The car is as fast as it is popular and the sound will make the hairs stand up on the back of your neck. On his most recent visit to Valley Gas he asked the price of recreating such a car and the answer would be in excess of £140,000 plus a donor car in good condition€¦.but followed by the statement that they will not do another which leaves this as the only Viperceptor ever made. Consignor Mathew PriddyA car with its own website more details can be found at https://viperceptor.co.uk/

1969 Morris Mini Mk. II Cooper S Transmission: manualMileage:31400Originally designed as a small affordable family car, the Mini quickly proved itself in many forms of motor sport. The most notable success was undoubtably the overall victory in the 1964 Monte Carlo Rally, the works Mini Cooper S ably piloted by Paddy Hopkirk with his navigator Henry Liddon. This victory, against considerably more powerful machinery, cemented the Mini's competition status. This stunning Mini Cooper S is presented in Almond Green with a Snowbury White roof. It was previously owned by two self-proclaimed Mini fanatics and restoring this car had become something of a passion, a read of the 1988 Restoring Classic Cars magazine charters their journey. Starting with a standard 1969 Cooper S the couple undertook a nut and bolt restoration with a twist. Although largely original, originality was never the goal in this project, the key was to fully future proof the car so much of the work was possibly unnecessary but an insistence on quality applied, something that can be seen some 35 years later! This car has certainly had plenty of expense lavished on it, now with a rebuilt 'A+' 1275cc inline-four engine driving the front wheels via a four-speed manual gearbox fitted in February 2018, at 27,400 miles after a rebuild to return the car to being a more relaxed road companion. The engine is currently running twin 1.5€ SU carburettors, CSI adjustable electronic ignition, and an open-road cam. Details can be found in the extensive history file stretching back over 35 years that begs to be read. Now running AVO adjustable shock absorbers and a rear anti-roll bar, while a free-flowing LCB manifold is complemented by a big-bore Maniflow exhaust. The braking system has been uprated to include vented discs, four-piston callipers and a remote servo. The headlamps have been converted to contemporary halogen units with LED side lights. The interior features black leather seats piped in green and Wood & Pickett period trim including tread-plates and chrome 'fly-off' handbrake. A modern stereo sits in the wooden dashboard. Recent expenditure includes new front discs and pads, Timken wheel bearings, new CV joints and front hubs. Although exempt, on the basis of age, the vehicle was MoT tested on 16 March 2022 at 31,301 miles when it received an advisory-free pass. Our vendor still tells us it is very fast for a mini, and would refer to it as a fast road spec but admitted it was an itch he had to scratch upon retirement to remember his own mini fondly. The car is in excellent condition and much can be accredited to the build by the Cotton's in the 80's though new sills and a rear subframe were fitted in the early 1990s. Having just 31,400 on the odometer and with such a detailed history, including a Heritage Certificate this is a fantastic 'fast road' Cooper S, offered ready to use and enjoy. Consignor Mathew Priddy.

1998 Yamaha SR 400 Registration Number: R687 GBR Frame Number: 1JR-337956 - Refurbished and in super order The Yamaha SR 400, running from 1978 all the way up to 2021, had been marketed for the Japanese home market, later to be introduced into Europe and America in 2014. The SR was originally developed under the design credo “easy to start“, and when Yamaha’s Technical Director damaged his ankle trying to start it, easier starting became a priority! As a result Yamaha developed a decompressor lever and a sight glass system. Through the small sight glass, there was an indicator showing when the piston was approaching top dead centre. By squeezing the decompressor lever, the piston could be easily taken through tdc to the start position.  The SR 400 has an air-cooled 4 stroke single cylinder SOHC two-valve engine with a dry sump, cleverly with the frame down tubes serving as the oil reservoir. The SR was styled by Atsuhi Ishiyama with the bike being in dealers showrooms in late 1975. This example has been recently restored at great expense, but is now for sale sadly due to ill health. The bike is showing 21,117 miles recorded, and is offered with a valid MoT certificate to July 2024.

Lot 37

1958 Velocette Venom Registration Number: KVS 156 Frame Number: 9816 - Lovely ‘Clubman ‘ styling In 1955 Velocette introduced the Venom alongside the 350cc Viper in direct competition with the popular British twins. The engine, designed by Charles Udall, featured an alloy cylinder head and high compression piston giving a claimed top speed of 100 mph. This was also the first British bike to use fibreglass enclosure panels for ease of cleaning and access. The suspension has a novel and efficient method of adjustment through the use of an outside adjustable arc. The Venom established itself as the the flagship model of Velocette with a total of 5,700 models produced between 1951 and 1970. The Venom featured today is in super  condition. Finished in black with gold pinstripes, the bike pays homage to Velocette’s legendary standard of chrome plating. In addition the Venom has the bonus of ‘Clubman’ styling in the form of twin dials, dropped handlebars and rear sets. Given the limited production and the presentation of this example, we are confident this will be a very worthy addition to any collection. Due to storage in recent ownership, some light recommissioning will required prior to use

Lot 39

1929 Royal Enfield Model 350 Registration Number: TT 4093 Frame Number: 19168  Royal Enfield built its first powered vehicles - De Dion-engined tricycles and quadricycles - in the closing years of the 19th Century, followed by its first motorcycle from 1900. The first 2¾hp (350cc) Enfield appeared in 1924 in overhead-valve and sidevalve versions, both of which used engines supplied by J A Prestwich. The JAP engine gave way to one of Royal Enfield's own manufacture for 1925, at which time the three-speed Sturmey Archer gearbox was standardised. The big Royal Enfield was the firm’s premium model of the Vintage era, and a beautifully built machine. This smart 350cc side valve Royal Enfield was comprehensively restored by our vendor approximately 30 years ago, with new engine internals including crank, piston and cams. Initially given an age-related registration, the bike subsequently regained its original and desirable ‘TT’ registration. In regular use ever since, the 350 has successfully completed many VMCC events, including the Banbury Run where it won the Ivor Mutton (best Royal Enfield) Award in 2013 and 2014. The bike was awarded a Highly Commended rosette at a Bristol Show, and featured in Classic Motorcycle magazine in July 2007.  Described our vendor as a “tidy, reliable and nippy machine in full working order”, could you possibly ask for more?

Lot 86

1961 Moto Parilla 250 Wildcat Registration Number: 294 UYV Frame Number: 700537 Engine No 700537 This machine is a rare beast. The Wildcat was a “USA-only” product of the Moto Parilla factory, made for the huge off-road and competition market. Designed with off-road in mind, it had an immensely strong “full-loop” frame (unlike the road bikes) and was fitted with top class Ceriani GP 35mm front forks (with damping adjustment from the saddle) and adjustable Ceriani rear shocks. Completing the high specification was a 7 litre tank, steering damper and steel based, leather covered seat. The engine was, at the time, the most powerful 250cc single engine in production with 26 bhp claimed. The Wildcat shared the same tune as the road-racing GS 250 model, with high compression piston, x1 cam (50/80/80/50 timing), 28mm Dellorto SSI carburettor and remote SS2 float bowl. Most Wildcats were bought as pure off-roaders with no intention of conforming to any road legalities such as lighting, instruments or silencing. A small number were sold with an optional “Enduro” kit which provided lighting with a headlamp and mounting “ears” at the front and a rear tail light and stop light switch. An extra coil fitted in the CEV 6055 magneto provided “direct” lighting and power for the stop light. This machine, equipped with the lighting kit and optional tachometer, started life in the UK in a batch imported by the UK concessionaire, and possibly sold via Comerfords in London. Around 30 machines were taken in a deal when the factory was effectively in receivership, but strangely no one outside the Parilla board knew this! This led to great difficulty in getting any spares for the Wildcats, as they were unique models in the range, sharing no cycle parts and only major engine components such as crankcases and barrels with other 250 models. Several of those bikes were used as parts “donors”, being stripped as required to keep customer bikes going or to repair them after crashes. Some Wildcats were “scrambled” by famous names such as world champion Dave Bickers, so one can imagine some damage was caused to the race bikes. This particular bike started out as “New Old Stock”, a new and unused engine, frame and swing arm unit which was bought from an enthusiast in Devon who had many years ago acquired several complete and incomplete Parilla models. Both engine and frame shared the same serial number so it was an obvious move to rebuild the bike to a high standard using the best original components available. It has been subject to a thorough restoration mechanically and cosmetically. Externally it is as near to 100% original as possible. Original gas tank, forks, mudguards and other missing components were located or came from a stock of new/old stock parts. Replica parts were not used other than the silencer to make it possible to use on the road. Internally the engine was checked over but being unused needed little work other than replacement of seals. In current ownership the following work has been completed: · All frame parts were powder coated gloss black. · All fork parts were powder coated wrinkle black as original · Fork stanchions hard chromed · OE fasteners and fittings were re-plated with dull zinc · All OE chrome work was re-plated to UK standards · Fuel tank de-rusted internally and refinished to OE standards and pattern · New gas taps were commissioned from the original manufacturers · The seat was repacked and recovered in Italy to ensure the exact stitching methods used were replicated · The wheel rims were replaced with flangeless alloy units and rebuilt using stainless spokes · New tyres fitted The Wildcat has been fitted with a custom made stainless steel “silenced” version of the original megaphone exhaust pipe, to tame a few of the many decibels produced by what is basically a “full race” ‘60’s engine tune. The lighting kit is not fitted at this point but an OE kit was supplied. In good running order (the engine was rebuilt by a renowned UK Parilla specialist). This rare bike comes with a certificate of authenticity and history file.

2013 Confederate X132 Hellcat Combat Registration Number: M15 RKA Frame Number: TBA - The fastest V-Twin in the world - Under 1,000 miles from new According to Wired Magazine, December 2012, “This is the Benchmark Confederate X132 Hellcat Combat, a beautifully naked bike with a massive engine that not only flies, but sets records. How fast is it? Salt Flats fast. A few months back, the bike set a record of 172.2 mph at Bonneville, making it the fastest big block v-twin engine on two wheels. Confederate says that number equates to about 200 mph on the street.” Confederate Motors was founded in 1991 by trial lawyer H. Matthew Chambers, with a matra to seek, "enlightened design through true American inspiration”. Owned and endorsed by the celebrity owners such as Brad Pitt, Tom Cruise, Keanu Reeves, David Beckham and Bruce Springsteen, owners of a genuine Hellcat are joining an exclusive club. Named after the legendary F6F Hellcat fighter plane of World War II and designed by the celebrated Pierre Terblanche, the Hellcat combines an uncompromising design with innovative engineering. Equipped with a V2, 2163cc, four-stroke motor, the engine produces 132bhp and a maximum torque of 150.0 ft.lbs, which propels the bike to a maximum top speed of 172.2 mph. The frame utilises a 3” hard steel backbone, 2” hard steel downtube, TIG welded frame with a custom 48 mm fork to the front, with adjustable Race Tech coil-over to the rear. The Hellcat uses double-disc brakes with Beringer 4 Piston Aerotech radial calipers to the front, and a drilled Brembo disc to the rear. The standard tyre sizes are 120mm and 190mm (front/rear). The cost of this engineering and quality of finish was in the region of £70,000 when new.  Registered in 2013, this Hellcat has been in a small private collection of bespoke motorbikes, and has covered under 1,000 miles from new. The Hellcat is offered with a valid MoT certificate to October 2024.

From the 'DJH Ford Collection', a remarkably original RS500 from a 34-year ownership, meticulously maintained and cherished by a true enthusiast. The original Ford Sierra RS Cosworth was the first Ford to wear the Cosworth badge and was presented to the public at the Geneva Motor Show in March 1985. It was introduced as a means of homologating the Sierra for 'Group A' Touring Car racing, with a requirement that 5,000 cars were built and sold. Launched for sale in July 1986 and based on the three-door Sierra body-shell, it was designed by Ford's Special Vehicle Engineering (SVE) and was powered by a Cosworth-designed 2-litre turbo engine of now-legendary repute. At this time, the Sierra Cosworth was a new kind of performance car - a 'blue-collar hero' able to humble true sports cars! In total, 5,545 cars were produced - of which 500 were sent to Aston Martin Tickford for conversion to the Sierra RS500 Cosworth. If the RS Cosworth was an homologation car, the RS500 was an evolution special. Once Ford had built the requisite 5,000 RS Cosworths, 'Group A' rules allowed an upgraded evolution model to be launched. This could carry changes focused on improving its racing potential, provided Ford sold 10% of the original number as road cars, hence the 500. The RS500 was announced in July 1987 and had a mechanically uprated Cosworth engine (more similar to the one to be used in competition), with power boosted to 224bhp, upgraded brakes, modified bodywork and the cachet of being hand-assembled - the RS500 really is the ultimate 1980's Fast Ford! Indeed, during the model's 30th anniversary year in 2017, the RS500 was named the 'Ultimate Cosworth' by one of the UK's biggest one-make car shows.More details on the RS500 can be found here: https://supercarnostalgia.com/blog/ford-sierra-cosworth-rs500?rq=RS500The car presented here is 1987 Ford Sierra RS500 Cosworth (AMT #266 of 500/chassis #GG 39092) in Black, despatched from Tickford on 21st July 1987 to Hendy Ford of Southampton for sale, and first registered on 1st August 1987 as E500 JOR. Its first owner deciding on leasing it from the dealership, hence the original keeper is recorded as Hendy Lennox Leasing Ltd. Pleasingly, E500 JOR still wears its original Hendy Ford number plates, a rare Cosworth bonnet sticker, passenger footwell fire extinguisher, rear blinds, boot floor catch-net and (unused) parcel shelf and First Aid kit all still in situ - these items were fitted by Hendy Ford for reaching their sales quota. As the 1990s began, the car’s next keeper (our vendor) was the proud owner of a 'regular' Moonstone Blue 3-door Sierra RS Cosworth, however, in March 1990, keen to acquire the new 'halo' RS500 model, he approached his local dealership, Hendy Ford, and part-exchanged his 3-door for E500 JOR. He was to be its proud and diligent owner for the next 34 years. The car’s accompanying original service booklet shows its first owner had it routinely serviced with Hendy Ford, up to 19,600 miles, when our vendor bought it in 1990 (an accompanying sales invoice confirms). Our vendor continued this tradition of servicing at the supplying-dealership, before using Ford specialists Tremona Garage up to 2014 and stamps and invoices relate to that.Over the decades, E500 JOR was used and enjoyed, as these cars are meant to be, making trips around the UK and Europe. Always garaged, maintained and crucially, kept original, E500 JOR survives today as quite possibly one of the most original, genuine and unmolested RS500s we have ever offered for sale. Our vendor has always ensured that the timing belts were routinely replaced, and the car regularly serviced and this regular care has ensured that it has never needed an engine rebuild, painting or welding. It feels and looks all the better for it, not Concours obviously, but with a sincerity which is impossible to replicate. E500 JOR has now covered a conservative mileage of just 60,197, supported, quite remarkably, by every single MOT Certificate since July 1990 and is in amazingly original and wholesome condition – testament to having only ever had two owners, the second for almost 35 years.Being an RS500 devotee, our vendor has ensured that E500 JOR has made pilgrimages to Cosworth, enjoyed many outings with the RS Owners Club, been displayed at shows and featured in magazines. The accompanying history file includes an original and complete Ford book-pack, a spare key, every MOT Certificate since 1990, multiple period photos of E500 JOR, numerous invoices for servicing, maintenance and parts, RS500 material, club/specialist appraisals, a copy of a Tickford RS500 data sheet plus magazines featuring E500 JOR. Also, coming with the car is a specially commissioned Modatek 30th Anniversary Commemorative RS500 piston, #002 of only 30 produced, specially engraved with E500 JOR and Build #266 (see photos attached) - what a great addition to the car.Interestingly and by pure chance, a few years ago our vendor got to know the car's original owner and he was able to send our vendor an image of E500 JOR parked next to an Escort S1 RS Turbo, his son’s car. They got the two cars together again and mocked-up the same photo, in the same spot, some 30 years later (see photos attached). We understand that E500 JOR drives with a pure, unspoilt and original feel and, according to one RS500 expert, its engine is one of the best he’d ever encountered, high praise indeed. Trying to find classics cars like E500 JOR is getting much harder, let alone examples as rare and as sought-after as an RS500; what an opportunity this is, decades of care from a dedicated owner lavished on a car that is considered a 'high-water mark' in Ford’s enviable back-catalogue.Specification Make: FORD Model: SIERRA RS500 COSWORTH Year: 1987 Chassis Number: WF0EXXGBBEGG39092 Registration Number: E500 JOR Transmission: Manual Engine Number: YBD0468 Drive Side: Right-hand Drive Odometer Reading: 60197 Miles Make: RHDClick here for more details and images

The car then passed to his nephew, Mr. Giles Estler, who actively campaigned the car for many years. EL 259 has been very well known in VCC circles for undertaking many long drives to events. It is reputed that the car was fitted with a new con rod and piston in 2006.The car is presented as seen along with some spares. It has three forward speeds and reverse. The VCC hold a full history of the car. With its very early VCC dating certificate, the Siddeley is eligible for all VCC events, including the famous Creepy Crawly Rally, and of course the London to Brighton Veteran Car Run which takes place every November which the car has completed with ease many times.Estimate: £50,000-60,000
