* JONATHAN MEULI Raising The Price Watercolour, signed 116cm x 151cm ( 45in x 59in) Note: One of two major watercolours of Queen Street Station in Glasgow that were first exhibited at Jonathan Meuli`s celebrated solo show at Roger Billcliffe Gallery in Sept / Oct 2001: it is illustrated in the catalogue of that exhibition. The work is inscribed with a well known text from Adam Smith, The Wealth of Nations. Jonathan Meuli has recently (July 2009) been awarded £25,000 by the Institution of Civil Engineers to produce a series of paintings documenting construction projects in London leading up to the 2012 Olympics.

Signed First Day Cover, commemorating Physical Fitness and the Centennial of Sokols in America. Postally cancelled 15th February 1965. Signed by Owens in bold black ink to a clear area, adding 36 Olympics in his hand beneath his signature. VG

LONDON OLYMPICS 1948:, A 1948 OLYMPIC TORCH, the bowl with pierced Olympics Rings and inscribed XIVth, Olympiad 1948, Olympiad to London, With Thanks to The Bearer, with gas recipient, aluminium, with possible later alterations to handle, 16.1/2in. (42cm) high. The above torch was used in one of the sea crossing and was won by the vendors grandfather in a draw/raffle at the end of the crossing

An Omega Seamaster Chrono-Quartz steel cased gentleman's wristwatch, made in conjunction with the 1976 Montreal Olympics, the rectangular face with black dial displaying both analogical and digital time, marked to the back with Seamaster and Olympic logos, on a tapering bar link steel bracelet, with a fold-over clasp.

The WWII awards of Charles Arthur Wiard, RAFVR, member of the British Olympic team at Berlin 1936 comprising Six: MBE 2nd type, civil issue; 1939-45 star, France and Germany star, Defence, War; Air Efficiency Award, Geo VI first type (Flt Lt C A Wiard, RAFVR), EF in original cartons with two groups of miniatures (1 minus MBE), and recipient's ID tag. Together with a number of black and white small photographs of WWII life including 30 relating to the Dieppe Landing (Wiard being 2nd in command of RAF Seaborne Party); various newspapers and parts thereof relating to the Dieppe Landing August 1942; "Picture Post" for Sept 1942 featuring "Dieppe, The Full Story" etc; various other ephemera including his ID card; a most interesting book "What the RAF Meant for the Occupied Netherlands" being a sketchbook printed secretly in 1944 with additional sketches added 1945 including "The Last Sprint of Osendarp" (a hand written note states "Osendarp was a Dutch sprinter who I knew in the years before the war. He was 3rd in the Olympic 100 yards and became a Nazi. When I arrived in The Hague in Apl '45 I asked members of the Underground movement - with whom I was in contact-about him. Regarded as a traitor they were searching Holland for him. They found him - to his cost...This page was added to the book especially for me. Together with the last page it makes this book unique." and "Here is my Underground armband", together with an "Oranje" armband in black, grey, white and orange. Wiard was on the ground at Ypenberg Airfield helping to collect and distribute RAF food dropping operations; a Delft ashtray with RAF markings also included. Note: Following the war Wiard went to Guildhall where, in 1956, he became Clerk and Superintendent of Billingsgate and Leadenhall Markets. He was awarded his MBE in 1970 for services to the Ministry of Agriculture and Food. Two illuminated vellum certificates relating to his services at the markets, 1970 and 1979, also included, as is his Freedom of the City of London document. A keen athlete Wiard, a member of Blackheath Harriers, ran the 1st leg of the 4 x 110 yrds sprint relay at the Berlin 1936 Olympics, finishing 4th.
