Of Olympic and fencing Interest- A collection of pre and post war German fencing trophies and medallions presented to Elizabeth Graser:, the medals dating between the 1930s to the early 1950s, including her 1936 Berlin Olympic competitor's badge number '2660', also a copy of 'Die Olympischen Spiele 1936' in original case, a rosewood and oynx jewellery box with cold painted foil and mask decoration and a copy of 'The Sword' October 1991 with a biography of Elizabeth Graser. *Note- Born in Austria and half Jewish, Elizabeth Graser married a German Army officer at the age of 23. After three years of marriage, he died of septicemia and left her the shop in Vienna that sold all types of fencing equipment and weaponry. She continued to fence and was selected to represent Austria in the 1936 Olympics in Berlin, where she reached the final. In 1939 she accepted papers to leave Austria and left for England with few possessions among which was her fencing kit. Her skill and reputation was well known amongst the fencing world as the Woman in Black, which she often wore while competing, even after she retired at the age of 74 she was still cable of teaching over eager fencers a lesson in skill and accuracy. She became involved with Wimbledon Fencing Club and in turn was a good friend of Derek Sweeney who was National Coach for the National Paraplegic Olympic squad. * Provenance: Elizabeth Graser to Derek Sweeney.

1980 OLYMPICS / FOOTBALL Moscow Olympics programmes for 1980 Olympic Football Tournaments for matches played in Kiev and featuring East Germany v Spain 20th July, v Algeria 22nd July, v Syria 24th July and Quarter Final v Iraq 27th July. East Germany lost in Final to Czechoslovakia 1-0. Each issue comes with match ticket. Generally good

1912 OLYMPICS SWEDEN Four booklets from the 1912 Olympic games held in Sweden, nos. 2, 3, 5 and 8, part of Den Femte Olympiaden series (unsure how many in the series). Booklet 2 is entitled "Sweden before the Games", booklet 3 "Stadium and Indoor Tennis", booklet 5 "Shooting and Outdoor Tennis" and booklet 8 "Gymnastics". Each booklet is approx 16-pages, text in Swedish, many pictures, and attractive colourful covers. There is some wear/ageing/marks and small tears on edges to all four, and booklets 2 and 5 have slight damage to a couple of inside pages. Impressive items. Fair
