1936 OLYMPICS 1936 Winter Olympics - complete set of 175 German Photocards stuck in original large album (128 pages). Album has a fold-out colour map of Olympic village in Berlin. This German album has some wonderful illustrations, some of the photo cards are in colour, plus large photograph of Adolph Hitler (signing autographs). Generally good
1936 OLYMPICS 1936 Summer Olympics - complete set of 200 German Photo cards stuck in original large album (168 pages). Album contains four colour plates which includes opening ceremony and Hindenburg flying over Berlin Stadium. This German album is superbly illustrated, there are many photo cards of Jesse Owens and one of Hitler, plus large photograph of Adolph Hitler (doing Nazi salute). Fair - generally good

Olympic Games – London 1908 an original certificate issued to A A Carnell who won the Gold Medal in the Individual Miniature Rifles 50 & 100 yards at the London Olympics in 1908. The certificate showing allegorical figures in an ancient Greek setting was designed by Bernard Partridge. It features ms insertions with the details of Carnell and his event and it is signed by Lord Desborough President of the British Olympic Council. Certificates such as this from the 1908 Olympics are of extreme rarity. The certificate measures 24x19ins and has been framed and glazed

ABRAHAMS HAROLD: (1899-1978) British Athlete, Olympic Gold medallist, 1924. One of the subjects of the film Chariots of Fire (1981). T.L.S., Harold, one page, 8vo (folding aerogram), n.p. (Mexico), 4th October 1968, to Joyce Winbolt-Lewis. Abrahams thanks his correspondent for their kind letter about a broadcast (`I DID take a lot of trouble over it`) and further comments on his voyage to Mexico, via New York, on the Queen Elizabeth. Abrahams continues `I went to the village today and saw and spoke to Martin who seems very well and fit. Haven`t seen anything of the rioting, but it has been pretty serious though a long way from the Village and Stadium.` before concluding by inviting the Winbolt-Lewis`s to dinner one evening. Together with a small selection of printed ephemera (invitations, menus etc.) relating to the athlete Martin Winbolt-Lewis who participated in the Olympic Games in Mexico, October 1968, including his diploma from the Games, five multiple signed menus for various dinners, signatures including Lord Burghley (`Exeter`), John Lever, Irving Rosenwater, memorial service programmes for Lillian Board, Ross McWhirter, Norris McWhirter etc. FR to generally G to VG, 18 The 1968 Summer Olympics in Mexico were controversial for a number of reasons, one being the Tlatelolco Massacre, referred to by Abrahams in his letter, which resulted in the death of 44 people on 2nd October 1968, just ten days before the Games started.
