San Marino : Extensive collection contained in 4 large-format stockbooks. Starts with 1926 Onofri x 2 sets, 1943 Ovptd.fascism set, 1947 Reconstruction Ovptd. set, then main strength which lies in 1950`s through to 2013, with hundreds of sets and singles for the period. Noted are 1957 Flowers, 1959 games, 12960 Caravaggio, 1961 Europa x 2, 1963-5 Airmails, and many other better sets. Then about 75 Souvenir sheets from 1960 Olympics through to 2013. Virtually all are unmounted mnt, few are hinged mint. Condition is clean thoughout, but is somewhat disorganized, with some duplication. (Many 100`s + 75 MS)

Emil Zatopek – 3x 1952 Olympic Long Distance Gold Medallist. Emil Zatopek signed display and book – comprising a photograph and large autograph album page mounted display mf&g overall 13.75 x 11.25" plus the book titled "Emil Zatopek in Photographs" 1st UK ed 1955. Note: Emil Zátopek b.1922 – d.2000 was a Czechoslovak long-distance runner best known for winning three gold medals at the 1952 Summer Olympics in Helsinki. He won gold in the 5000 metres and 10,000 metres runs, but his final medal came when he decided at the last minute to compete in the first marathon of his life. He was nicknamed the "Czech Locomotive". Zátopek was the first athlete to break the 29-minute barrier in the 10,000 metres (in 1954). Three years earlier, in 1951, he had broken the hour for running 20km. He is widely considered to be one of the greatest runners of the 20th century and was also known for his brutally tough training methods. In February 2013, the editors at Runner` s World Magazine selected him as the Greatest Runner of All Time. He is the only person to win the 5,000 metres, 10,000 metres and marathon in the same Olympics.

Ephemera pedestrianism a finely crafted horn drinking cup with hallmarked silver rim^ and octagonal plaque bearing the legend : This horn was presented to John West by his friend for his manly conduct as a Pedestrian in the year 1828. Silver needs a little clean but otherwise in fine condition. Approx 125mm high and 90mm diameter. A remarkable momento of a long gone sport^ which in its day was the subject of considerable activity and gambling. Pedestrianism was the sport of men walking considerable distances in specific timescales gamblers bet considerable amounts of money on whether the Pedestrian would achieve his goal or not. In some instances Pedestrians walked many hundreds of miles. With other forms of sport taking over during the 19th c^ Pedestrianism gradually died out but echoes of the sport still exist with the long distance walking events in the Olympics and other international athletics games.
