SUMMER / WINTER OLYMPICS 1936 Summer Olympics held in Berlin, four postcards, three showing stadium views, the other showing Olympic village accommodation plus one postal cover showing stadium. Winter Olympics held in Garmisch-Partenkirchen, one postcard showing ski jump with flags and a postal cover. All have official Olympic stamp. Generally good
A photograph of the Much Wenlock Olympic Games 1867, the world's first known picture of a sporting event, the mount with embossed stamp for 'Laing, Photographer, Shrewsbury', 42cm x 25cm The Wenlock Olympics were started in 1850 by Dr William Penny Brookes and his example helped inspire the Olympic games as we know them today. The 1867 games were an historic occasion and for the first time a photographer came. The photograph he took is the earliest known photograph of any sporting event anywhere in the world. By the 1870s the character of the event had changed, when the programme became dominated by track and field events. By this date competitors were coming from across the country in order to compete.

1948 OLYMPICS AT ARSENAL Two programmes for Football matches played at Arsenal FC, Great Britain v. Holland 31/7/1948, slightly creased and the England line-up and result has been entered and Italy v. Denmark 5/8/1948, slight vertical fold, pencil team changes and scores entered and tiny paper loss at the bottom of the line-up page. Generally good
