The makers confirm that the guns were built in 1974.

A fine pair of 12-bore Hercules Finest Quality Model self-opening boxlock ejector guns, nos. 8701/2. 25-inch barrels with 2.75-inch chambers, about .25 and .5 choke borings, machined Churchill ribs, the scroll back frames with scroll engraving, the makers name signed within a banner, and retaining almost all of their original hardening colour, gold numbered top-levers, rolled edge trigger guards, 15.5-inch figured stocks cast on for the left shoulder and central vision, nitro proof, in their makers lightweight leather case. 6lb. 2oz. The guns appear little used and retain almost all of their original finish. The makers confirm that they were built in 1971.
