Dottergelbes OLeinen (kaum angestaubt oder bestoßen) mit schwarzgeprägtem Titel auf Rücken und VDeckel in teils geprägtem zweifarbigem OSchutzumschlag (rosé-blau) mit OBauchbinde (etwas angestaubt, leicht fleckig, kaum Randläsuren). Tokio, Shinchôsha, 1954.Seltene erste Ausgabe eines der wichtigsten Entwicklungsromane der japanischen Literaturgeschichte. Der Romanheld heißt Shinji. Er begibt sich in eine amouröse Romanze mit Hatsue, der strahlendschönen Tochter des reichen Schiffers Terukichi. "Shiosai" wurde im Deutschen als "Die Brandung", im Englischen mit "The Sound of Waves" übersetzt. Dem Autor Yukio Mishima (1925-1970) wurde dafür der "Shincho Preis" von Shinchosha Publishing im Jahre 1954 verliehen. Neben "Haru no Yuki", "Kinkakuji" und "Rokumeikan" wurde "Shiosai" in die UNESCO-Sammlung repräsentativer Werke aufgenommen.Yukio Mishima (1925-1970) gilt als der bedeutendste japanische Schriftsteller der Nachkriegsliteratur. Neben der Literatur widmete er sich der Kultur auch als Poet, Bühnenautor, Regisseur, Schauspieler, Model und politischer Aktivist. So verfasste Mishima Romane, Drehbücher, Schauspiele, Erzählungen, Gedichte sowie ein Opern-Libretto. Allein das vorliegende Werk wurde ganze fünfmal für den Film adaptiert. Die literarische Schlagkraft Mishimas gründet sich auf seine avantgardistische, vorbildslos neue Sprache, sein immens reiches Vokabular, die vielschichtigen Metaphern, "der Fusion von traditionaler japanischer mit moderner westlicher Literatur und seiner Obsession hinsichtlich der Einheit von Schönheit, Erotismus und dem Tod" (eNotes Editorial). Mishima war auch politisch tätig, hatte eine eigene Partei gegründet, die sich gegen Kapitalismus und für die Bewahrung der Tradition des Alten Japan einsetzte. So organisierte er am 25. November 1970 mit Mitgliedern der Tatenokai einen Putsch gegen das militärische Hauptquartier, um die Verfassung Japans abzuschaffen und den Tenno wieder in Würden und Göttlichkeit der Vorkriegszeit zu installieren. Der Putsch schlug fehl, worauf Mishima einen spektakulären rituellen Selbstmord inszenierte. Bekanntlich ist meist nur der zweite Druck des Werkes "Shiosai" von 1959 (mit 255 Seiten) nachweisbar, von dem ersten wurde nur eine kleine Auflage gedruckt, die sofort vergriffen war. Der Druckvermerk ist hier mit der originalen aufmontierten Stempelmarke und dem großen roten Hanko-Quadratstempel der Zensur und des Verlags versehen. Der Untertitel "Die Erzählung von einem Sonntagskind" ist auf dem Titel in deutscher Sprache gedruckt worden. - Die schönen stilisierten Vorsatzpapiere teils mit leichten Braunschatten, Titel minimal, im Block kaum fleckig, insgesamt sehr schönes Exemplar mit dem außergewöhnlich seltenen originalen Schutzumschlag und mit der originalen Bauchbinde.
