1898 Grenadier Guards Presentation Decanter Set, fine Mappin & Webb Princess Plate decanter set with engraved presentation inscription, “PRESENTED TO SERGTS MESS 3RD BATT GRENADIER GUARDS BY LIEUT E F O GASCOIGNE ON HIS LEAVING THE BATTALION JAN 1898” to the other side is engraved regimental flaming grenade badge. Six ring holder with ornate handle which is screwed into the bottom of the stand. Complete with the six cut glass bottles with stoppers, all slightly miss-matched so possible later replacements. Some small chips to the glass bottles but the stand has nice patina.

Noted examples of silver bearing E T Bryant's mark on behalf of James Thredder, Son & Co as importers include a pair of silver-mounted glass decanters and a liqueur glass holder, London, 1889, maker's mark of K Kurz of Kesselstadt, Germany, retailed by Edward Tessier, jeweller etc, of 26 New Bond Street, and...a French powder box, 'Tiffany et Co' as retailers.
