WW2 Japanese NCO’s Naval Kai-Gunto Sword single edged blade. Cast brass solid tsuba. Brass crudely shaped hilt mounts. Shagreen central grip with light tan cord binding. Contained in its leather covered wooden scabbard with crudely shaped brass mounts. See Military Swords of Japan 1868-1945 Plate 78 where the author suggests it is an Ersatz or emergency issue but possibly made as souvenirs to be sold to Allied Servicemen.
A WAKASASHI. A Japanese shortsword (Wakasashi) of the rebellion period, with stained 12.5" blade. Unsigned short tang, tsuka has iron tsuba and mounts. 618. AN OLD UNION JACK. A Georgian or slightly later Silk Union Jack of the type carried by troops in the 19ThC. Very ragged and torn measuring 72" x 60".
