A JAPANESE WAKIZASHI, 46.2cm blade with distinctive wavy hamon, the tang with three mekugi-ana, one filled, and unsigned, black painted alloy tsuba, fully bound tsuka in the Rebellion manner, contained in its lacquered wooden saya, scrubbed, complete with signed kozuka, the copper and gilt handle decorated with a crane amidst a flock of smaller birds. Generally worn.
A JAPANESE KO-TACHI WITH HORIMONO, 54.4cm blade chiselled with a dragon, one mekugi-ana, signed Echizen no Kami Minamoto Nobuyoshi to the tang and impressed with a Chrysanthemum mon, copper tsuba decorated to either side with waves, fully bound tsuka with dragon menuki, matching copper fuchi and kashira decorated with dragons, contained in its copper mounted lacquered saya, the former chiselled with stylised dragons and the latter finely lacquered with a dragon. Some losses to lacquer on saya, kozuka lacking and a few rust patches to the blade.
A JAPANESE WAKIZASHI, 57.5cm blade with wavy hamon, two mekugi-ana and signature to the tang, the habaki pierced with a sun to one side and a moon to the other, fully bound tsuka with gold highlighted foliate menuki and gold highlighted floral fuchi and kashira, gold inlaid pierced tsuba, contained in its maroon lacquered wooden saya decorated with flower heads, losses to lacquer and kozuka lacking. Some rust staining and lamination to blade.
A JAPANESE KATANA, 68.5cm blade, the tang with one mekugi-ana and unsigned, circular iron tsuba decorated with a landscape incorporating a village and figures to one side and scrolling foliage and flower heads to the other with copper and gilt highlights, fully bound tsuka with matching fuchi and kashira decorated with hares, gilt highlighted menuki in the form of hornets (?), contained in its later black lacquered saya. Generally worn.

Tang has orange rust pitting, making it difficult to remove the hilt. Soiling to the braid binding of the hilt. The saya has three dents.

A Japanese Second World War Katana, the 66.5cm steel blade with faint horizontal hamon, one piece burred copper habaki, the tang with signature to each side, with chrysanthemum pierced and cast brass tsuba, the brown braid bound same hilt with triple chrysanthemum head menuki, the leather covered saya with brass prunus mounts and suspender ring, with officer's blue and brown tasselled sash, 98.5cmTang with orange rust pitting, making it difficult to remove hilt. Blade with three nicks to the edge, very greasy and dirty. Some fraying to the braid binding of the hilt. Good quality saya.

Leather scabbard cover has later lacing and lacks its press stud strap.
JAPANESE KATANAS SWORD WITH TSUBA Early 20th Century sword of the type carried by Japanese officers during World War II. The wooden scabbard is perhaps a family scabbard that was fitted to the sword. The mottled scabbard covering has pealed off for the last 15cm to scabbard tip. The blade surface has old congealed vaseline.
dating: 19th Century provenance: Japan, Shinogi zukuri blade, iori mune. Tachi from the Shinshinto period, 1850 circa, with coeval koshirae, Echizen - Kaga school. Mei FUJIWARA TADAMITSU. Featuring a wide torizori, tending to the sakizori. Various hada, of ko itame, almost muji, itame nagare and masame with chikei and ji nie. Wide and bright Hamon, starting with Osaka yakidashi and then featuring gunome midare, togari midare with ashi and yo. Very accentuated otgari at the ura. Ubu-ha blade at the hamachi (never sharpened). Ko maru boshi with modest kaeri. The nakago ubu is kaku mune, iri yamagata in kashu style. Yasurime kiri. Signature with kanji engravedwith a tagane. One mekugi ana. Excellent koshirae of itomaki no tachi in good conditions, belonging to the late Edo period. Nashiji lacuqer saya, slightly red with gilded inlays with four aoi mon of the Tokugawa. Tsuka an the upper part of the saya, where the watari ito are rolled up, are covered with brocade. Gilt-copper tsuba of aoi gata shape with eight aoi mon in-relief, divided by four fans engraved with racemes and leaves. Kabuto gane, fuchi, ashi gane, ashi ma, shibabiki, amaoi, en suite and enriched by small aoi mon. Green, leather obitori keeping their original colour. Gilded, copper habaki. length 94,7 cm.Notes: Blade in perfect conditions; the polishing is coeval to the forging. Tdamitsu is a well-known sword producer of the Enpo period (1673-1680), from the Etchu area; the blade is presumably a utsushi (copia) - this is why it is signed - forged by a good sword maker from Shinshinto at the request of one of the Shogun entourage men. This is the typial, military settind that was worn together with an armor by the security men of the Shogun. The mon indicate that the owner was a member of one of the Tokugawa families. Provenance: a Londoner antique dealer.
