A late 19th century Japanese katana with shagreen grip and floral decorated tsuba (af), in wooden scabbard with leather cover, length 104cm. CONDITION REPORT: Area of grip where tsuba meets blade is af. A peg is missing. To both sides of peg aperture the shagreen is damaged. Blade length is 73cm from tsuba to tip. Areas of tarnish and staining to blade. Very minor nibbles to edge of blade, and some scratches.

Plain Tsuba of circular iron form, from an older sword fitting. Signed Kani Michi Showa No Io (1936). Complete with copies of the Certificate permitting Gnr Evans RA attached Gurkhas to bring the sword back. Also a copy photograph and newspaper account of how he was MID'd in the Battle for Burma. A copy of the original certificate and the details therein, are with the sword.

With single-edged polished blade, the hilt comprising bronze tusba retaining much of the original gilding, matching fuchi kashira decorated in low relief with gold details, and cord-bound rayskin-covered grip, in a black scabbard. Signed. Length from tip to tsuba is 26 inches. 66cm. Length 98cm overall.
