GINÉS LIEBANA (Torredonjimeno, 1921)."Angel protector San Rafael".Watercolor and ink on paper.Signed and dated in the lower left area.Measurements: 35 x 24 cm; 67 x 56 cm (frame).In this work the author presents us with an undone drawing as a sketch in which he appreciates the presence of an angel that is located in the center, in profile to the viewer. By the partana that he sticks in the ground, supporting all the weight of his body.Ginés Liébana, originally from Jaén, moved during his youth to Córdoba with his family. It was in that city where he began his artistic training, studying at the School of Arts and Crafts of Cordoba. During the 40's, he began to collaborate with several poets and artists of the city such as Pablo García Baena, or Juan Bernier. In 1947 this group published a magazine entitled Cántico, which gave rise to the name of this group of artists. Throughout his professional career he collaborated as an illustrator with more publications such as the magazines La Estafeta Literaria and El Español, among others. In the 60's he settled permanently in Madrid, after having traveled to many countries in South America and Europe. His painting is characterized by a realistic aesthetic language, in which a high symbolic load can be appreciated.
