An original programme for the AC/DC 1979 European tour that has been autographed on the front cover by Bon Scott and Angus Young in blue ballpoint pen. Bon has added the group name under his signature. The autographs were obtained outside the Apollo Theatre, Manchester on the 29th October 1979.Provenance: accompanied by a letter from the original recipient that reads:‘My childhood friend Simon Robinson and I set off from our then hometown of Grimsby on his faithful Honda 250cc Super Dream Motorbike on the 29th Oct 1979 . Keen and eager to see our heroes AC/DC at Manchester Apollo Theatre. It was cold as we went across England’s highest motorway M62. The support band unbelievably was Def Leppard who were superb, AC/DC with Bon and Angus blew everyone’s mind and literally blew the roof off the place. After several deserved encores Simon and I found ourselves outside in the rain, sleet and snow programs and T Shirts clutched in our hands. I persuaded Simon to wait by the tour bus and see the band coming out, when they did there was only half a dozen of us hardcore fans left and the band asked us on the bus where it was a lot warmer. We chatted and secured Bon and Angus autographs and stored them under our bike leathers by our chests all the way back to Grimsby (Did I say it was cold), little did we know that barely 2 months later our then hero Bon Scott would be dead, tragic.’The programme measures 21cm x 29.75cm (8.2 inches x 11.7 inches). The condition is very good plus.
A page taken from a 1971 diary on which Zacron, designer of the 1970 Led Zeppelin album sleeve ‘Led Zeppelin III’ has drawn a page of doodles and sketches in ballpoint pen. On the reverse side of the page Zacron has handwritten various notes in ballpoint pen and pencil, one of which is dated 5th February 1971 and reads ‘JIMMY PAGE?’. Provenance: from the estate of Zacron, born Richard Drew 1943 – 2012. The artist known as Zacron was born Richard Drew in Sutton, England in 1943. Zacron’s artistic career was intrinsically connected to music and during his artistic training he met first Eric Clapton at Reynolds High School, Acton, London, England and then Jimmy Page whilst at Kingston College of Art. Zacron recalled how he and Jimmy became friends: ‘Jimmy visited my studio, and in his home, we discussed art and music. We decorated our guitars with experimental materials and designs, I made liquid projections using hot oils and strobes linked to the music of Jimi Hendrix’. After winning a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Arts Schools, Zacron studied drawing from January 1965 to June 1967. Soon after completing his artistic studies Zacron briefly became a lecturer at Leeds Collage of Art under Harry Phillips, before resigning the post to found the ‘Zacron Media Centre’ in London's West End. It was after a gig at Leeds University in 1970 that the members of Led Zeppelin met with Zacron to discuss the commission of an album cover for the forthcoming release ‘Led Zeppelin III’, with Jimmy Page championing Zacron’s work. The unconventional approach was also highly complex for production and disruptive, setting back the album release date by two months. It nevertheless coincided with Led Zeppelin’s zenith of fame, they were at this time considered to be the biggest band in the world, and the delay only served to fuel anticipation. Ultimately, sales in the United States alone totalled 25 million copies, making it one of the most iconic covers in rock history. During a career which spanned five decades he made an analytical spiritual exploration of the visual arts, tackling a broad range of media and themes. His work has featured in exhibitions around the world, his art has been collected by legends of the music world and is included in many significant collections. The page measures 13.5cm x 19.6cm (5.25 inches x 7.7 inches). The condition is very good plus.

Provenance: accompanied by a letter of authenticity from the original recipient that reads: ‘My friend and I were on an outing from school to the Sheffield Graves Art Gallery, Surrey Street. It was an exhibition of Czechoslovakian graphic art and being twelve years old we were starting to get bored. We knew that the Beatles were in Sheffield to play a concert at the City Hall. We went round the back of the City Hall and then went round to the front of the Grand Hotel where we knew the group were staying. As we reached the hotel we saw the Beatles on the steps and approached them for the autographs’. The flyer measures 10.5cm x 18.25cm (4.1 inches x 7.2 inches). The condition is good.
