A Late George III Mahogany Cased Mantel Clock by H.J.Tymms of London, the 8ins diameter painted and slightly domed metal dial with Roman numerals, to the eight day two train movement with engraved bordered rear plate and striking on a bell, contained in figured mahogany dome top case, inlaid with ebony stringings to front, with brass stop fluted quarter columns to sides, leaf moulded and ring handles on four gilt brass ball feet, 17ins high Note: H.J. Tymms recorded working London 1795-1811Condition ReportThe exterior of the clock appears to be in good original condition showing some cracks and splits to the veneer commensurate with age and usage. The fluted columns are both in good condition, likewise all the brasswork appears original and present, likewise the feet. The clock shows no obvious sign of previous damage or repair. Both side frets are in good condition however there is some repair to the veneer on the left hand side fret. The glass to the front appears to be intact and free from any obvious signs of chips or cracks. The hinge shows some slight sign of aged repair but functions correctly. The locking key to the front cover is not present, however the cover can be opened. The dial shows some hairline cracks to the enamel, the most obvious being at the 2 o'clock position and is approximately 2ins in length. Likewise a further hairline crack at the 7 o'clock position approximately 1ins and several chips to the outer rim of the dial. The baton numerals at the 12 o'clock position are worn with some wear in general commensurate with age. The hands appear original with the pointer to the centre brass hour dial for the alarm function. It should be noted this function has not been tested. To the rear of the clock there appears to be some slight aged repair to the rear door. The rear hinges do appear to be original and function correctly. The pendulum is present. The mechanism appears to be complete and clear but should be regarded as untested. Overall an honest example. The base of the clock measures 12ins x 6.25ins and stand 17ins tall, as catalogued.
