Eardley Norton of London - an 18th century walnut cased bracket clock, the signed arched brass dial having silvered strike/silent dial to the arch, the silvered chapter ring with Roman and Arabic numerals and inner alarm scale, twin winding holes for a brass wire driven eight day verge fusee movement, with pull-repeat, engraved backplate, and striking on a bell, the case having caddy top, gilt brass mounts, and on gilt brass scroll feet, h.57cm (handle down).Case is period and movement is period, but possibly associated because the seatboard looks wrong.Signs of some old fixings to inside of door frame.Brass mounts to case possibly later.

Two French brass carriage clocks, one with alarm and two-train striking movement, the other timepiece only. Tallest 13.5 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The smaller clock winds and is ticking although a little sluggishly. The movement is probably a little dry. The brass case is all over tarnished. The top right hand corner of the dial has a small loss when the clock is viewed from the underside of the cornice. There is a further small hairline crack towards the bottom left hand corner of the dial. There is one small chip to the top right hand corner of the glass on the rear door. The larger timepiece is fully wound on both trains and is not currently operating however the movement appears to be all present. The case is all over tarnished. The dial appears to be in good order. There is some rubbing to the Arabic numerals on the subsidiary dial. The rear door has a chip and crack to the top right hand corner of the glass. All other glass panels appear to be in good condition. We have keys for both clocks.

Jenkins, London, a small ebonised hooded wall clock: the thirty-hour weight-driven movement, formerly with alarm work, having a verge escapement and decoratively turned pillars, the four-inch square brass dial having a raised silvered chapter ring engraved with black Roman numerals, Arabic outer five-minute numerals, meeting-arrowhead half-hour markings and signed either side of VI o'clock J.Jenkins, London, with a matted dial centre, cast-brass gilded cherub-head spandrels to the four corners and blued-steel hands, the flat-top ebonised pine case having barley-twist columns to the hood and scroll brackets to the backboard, height 32cm.*Note Probably James Jenkins who is recorded as being apprenticed in 1683, becoming free of the Clockmaker's Company in 1692, thereafter working in the Strand, London until circa 1708. A clock signed by him previously in the Wetherfield Collection of clocks. Or possibly John Jenkins who is recorded as working in London having been apprenticed in 1695, free of the Clockmaker's Company in 1704.
