An Edwardian brass cased alarm carriage clock, height excluding carrying handle 10 cm. CONDITION REPORT: The movement does wind but is not currently ticking. The balance spring is not damaged but we cannot get the movement to tick. The case has a section of brass stringing missing on the left hand side of the front panel. There are minor stress fractures to the veneers. These are slightly more pronounced on the left hand side. The base moulding has slightly sprung at the left hand corner. There are small losses to the base moulding extremities. The brass feet and handles are original. The rear door is present. The face glass has a small chip just below the numeral 5. There is a hairline crack across the top of the face between numeral 10 and the bottom of numeral 1. There is some slight staining to the bottom of the face around the numeral 6.
A late 19th century French repeating carriage clock with alarm by Drocourt, with a platform lever escapement striking the hours and half-hours on a gong, the backplate stamped with 'D G' flanking a clock and the numbers '9574', the white enamel circular dial with Roman and Arabic numerals, inscribed 'HOWELL JAMES & CO. TO THE QUEEN, LONDON & PARIS', above a subsidiary alarm dial, the gorge case decorated with a blue enamel ground with white flowers and leaves, with five glazed bevelled panels, 13.5cm high, with an associated leather travelling case. A late 18th Century oak cased long case clock of slim proportions, the 30 hour movement with square brass dial and single hand, the chapter ring with Roman numerals inscribed "Taylor (John) Petworth", 34 cm wide x 190 cm high CONDITION REPORTS Case appears to be of age and very basic/rustic though upon close inspection may be a 19th Century imitation of earlier construction. Movement basically intact though alarm appears incomplete and therefore probably not in working order. Hand appears very stiff suggesting that the whole movement requires attention prior to use.
