USA Civil War Musicians sword. U.S Model 1840. Fine blade 28". Ricasso marked 'Made by Ames Mfs Co Chicopee Falls Mass'. Reverse shows 'US' G.W.C. (George W. Chapin Inspector) Wirebound grip, bun pommel. Inspectors mark G.W.C. to knuckle bow. No scabbard. The whole in fine condition dated 1864 for the U.S. Civil War.
dating: Second quarter of the 19th Century provenance: Germany, Iron bow of flat section; fine wooden tiller, checkered in the lower part and on the stock, with engraved grooves at the guard; iron groove engraved with petals; an axe trophy, flags and other arms on the tang; trigger-guard engraved with vases and provided with finger support; flower-patterned flat guard; trigger and set trigger; front part covered with ivory. length 49 cm.
dating: Second half of the 19th Century provenance: Southern Italy, Straight, single-and short false-edged blade, provided with pierced and engraved band next to the back, bearing a long, rinceaux tree-decoration, a person at its feet (intended to urinate?) leans on the trunk. Fretwork tang, with a scene with a person hunting a deer with bow and arrow. Crowned stamp 'PV' (for Pasquale Villani di Campobasso). Rectangular base, with molded decorations and central knot. Iron grip in one piece, with flat pommel of circular shape, curved on one side and adorned with grooves. Brown, horn grip scales with silver escutcheon. length 47 cm.
