A late 19th/early 20th century Viennese gold, chrysoprase and Essex crystal set small trinket casket, by Josef Siess Sohne, (1895-1922), of rectangular form, with applied foliate decoration, five Essex crystals and four cabochon chrysoprase, on four rustic feet, with velvet lined interior, maker's mark SJS, Austro-Hungarian 1872-1922 580/1000 finesse mark, gross 70.1 grams, length 56mm, in fitted leather box.Tiny chip to one of the cabochons at the base. Some tarnishing in places, otherwise the overall condition is good. A WWII Second World War trench art type trinket box / jewellery box with applied British Army General Service button. The button with Kings Crown used as a latch to lock and open the box. The wooden box detailed with heart shaped pokerwork and applied wooden rose to the lid. Likely a bring back / sweetheart creation. Measures approx 6x20x14cm.
