William and Henry Rock, n.d., ca.1838-1855]. a set of 53 engraved geographical cards (includes a duplicate of Italy), comprising 41 maps with caption titles, 12 figures representing the Royal courts of England, Russia, France, China, Persia, Mysore, Egypt, Algiers, Morocco, United States, Canada and Mexico, four suits representing the continents of Europe, Asia, America and Africa, without hand-colouring, plain versos, 95 x 65mm, together with an instruction booklet 'Explanation of the cards', 95 x 65mm, all edges gilt, 32pp., printed by J. Unwin, contained within a decorative tooled leather case, gilt title to front. A card game for five to six players, plus an umpire, first produced by Charles Hodges in 1827. Condition Report: light foxing to some cards, heavier to 'Tataria' card (Diamonds) a few cards with small worm holes, three cards from the suits Diamonds, Spades and Hearts with loss to upper caption titles, the cards Abyssinia, Europe, Hindoostan, Netherlands, British Isles, Persia and United States with loss to lower caption titles, all uncoloured, includes a duplicate card of Italy.light marks to the covers of the instruction booklet, internally clean and crisp with bright gilt edges.the leather case scuffed with some loss of leather to corners.Condition Report Disclaimer
WW1 Belgium Trench Game “Loto des Belges”, interesting example being a number of numbered boards, housed in the original card box of issue with lovely illustration to the lid showing Belgium soldiers in front line trench playing the game and also a Belgium machine gun crew getting ready for an attack. Some wear and damage to the box.
