A Fabulous Quality Early 18th Century Walnut Veneered Fold-over Card Table of fine colour and patination. The quarter-veneered top shaped with sweeping curves heralding the rounded protuberant front corners and inlaid with feather-banding framed in cross-banded borders. The four cabriole legs enriched with carved sprays of acanthus coiled into scrolls at the hips and terminating on ball & claw feet. The frieze fitted with an iron catch to the back releasing the rear legs to extend concertina-style with a pull-out slide securing the hinged sides, thus supporting the fold over top. The green baize playing surface dished with round candle stands to the corners and oval counter receptacles, 29½ ins (75 cms) in width.
